Ok need some help here. I have a 8gb memory card in a vita that I just downgraded from 3.70 to 3.60. Nothing else is on memory card just the loco roco demo. I just got a new vita that is on 3.70. I want to use the memory card again on the new one. Can I reformat the memory card on my first vita and factory reset that vita? It will now be on 3.60 so when resetting it will be 3.60. I don't need to login into psn for any games so that doesn't affect me. Or is my thinking wrong?? Any help would be aprreciated!

the id.dat (on the memory card) contains the firmware version. I guess it's updated when you install firmware. I'm not sure what would happen with what you're doing. the id.dat contains console/profile specific information. you can delete it though, and it will be recreated. I think there's a henkaku setting for that.

edit: I may be misunderstanding. the memory card can be used on another system, but it will reformat it. restoring the system should erase all traces of your profile (traces remain on the system itself such as the act.dat, so this will remove them), but I can't remember if that also formats the system.

So is my understanding correct if I remove my memory card and do s factory reset on my first vita, it will be 3.60. Henkaku I can install later when I get s new memory card. The second vita I'll just do the downgrade trick again. Or is firmware all on memory card?

firmware isn't on the memory card. it does have ties to the firmware you're on though, such as the software version being in id.dat (you can open it with a text editor, it's a hidden file in windows). it contains some device information, which I think is why people were deleting it when going from vita to pstv and back. the file should be recreated once the system is rebooted.

I just checked my id.dat, and it says 3.68. I'm on 3.65 though, which suggests that it's updated when signing into psn. I used a spoofer when signing in, 'cause the latest at the time was either 3.67 or 3.68. I'm not sure what it would say if you've never signing into psn. the profile name is probably just blank (OID).

Thanks, I'm just going to go for it. I'll unlink the memory card from first vita, wipe first vita and see how it goes,
