Hello, I am new to the whole emulation on wii thing so I need help solving a problem that involves Fire Emblem 4.

I have set up the emulator correctly and it can load Thracia 776 just fine but whenever I load fe4 it just goes to a black screen with no loading or anything. I assumed it was because Thracia was an SFC file while Fe4 was an SMC but converting it did nothing. Thracia was also half FE4’s size because of the translation patch but I read on Serens Forest that just naming the translation patch and the rom the same thing should bypass the size issue but no dice. I was wondering if anyone had any other solutions I could try?

For the most part, a SFC romfile is a no-header one, while a SMC romfile is a headered one. For preservation purposes a no-header one are preferred. Emulators should take care of that anyway and support both.

Now, how did you made the SFC/SMC conversion? That might had ruined the romfile.

Snes9x doesn't have the best compatibility on Wii (sadly), but I've played some Super Metroid hacks without issues so it might be a problem with the FE3 romfile you are using.

Mind explaining?

I used a fresh version if the fe4 Japanese rom and the Naga translation patch. When the original conversion didn’t work I just used a new fresh rom. However with the SFC and SMC difference explained to me it might just be me using the wrong version of the translation patch. I did my original patching two years ago and I honestly forgot about the difference. I will try again tomorrow morning.

I patched a clean Fire Emblem - Seisen no Keifu No-Intro rom file with the Project naga beta 7 ips file.
I used the unheaderd rom.ips file.
The game is now 8,192 Mbyte big and works with the latest official stable Snes9x GX 4.4.3 release for the Nintendo Wii.
I attached an ingame screenshot.

@Dodain47 I don’t have a no intro rom can you point me to one?

And yes I did try the following
Clean Rom with headered translation patch = Just the game launching in Japanese
Clean Rom with unheadered translation patch= Black Screen
Rom patched with headered English translation patch= When trying to load the game it just says “Error loading game”
Rom patched with unheadered English translation patch= Black Screen

You won't get links to ROMs here, its against the rules.

Looks like the problem is your source ROM file, google for it and try again the IPS patching.

I was mostly asking for just a name for the rom file. That way I know which one I’m going for

Sorry for the late reply both of you. I was busy with my real life. I just tried the no intro file patched with the translation and I just got an error loading game message. Do either of you have any other ideas? Again thanks for all the help thus far
