Hi, I have a clean never hacked PS3 Slim 2001A model with official firmware 4.82. I have few questions regarding hacking my PS3

1. If I want to hack my ps3 do I need to update my official firmware from PSN to 4.84 first before hack it ? Can someone point me to the right guide to hack it with my firmware ?

2. I still want to play PS3 online games from time to time. If I update to ofw 4.84 to play online games without hacking it and later on decided to hack it from ofw 4.84. Do I lose anything or any hacks compare if I hack it from ofw 4.82 ? Are there any benefits hacking it from ofw 4.82 compare to hacking it from ofw 4.84 ?

3. I bought a lot of PS3 digital games from PSN in the past. Will I still be able to play them after I hack it or I need to re-download them ? Will they still function the same (Games and installed DLC) without connect to internet PSN ?

Thanks in advance !

(game servers for ps3, a lot of them are shutdown .......... there's also a lot of spam that encourages people to create multiple ps3 "user accounts", completely not necessary .............. and its not more safe, its just a reason to make a guide more difficult to follow)

(your on 4.82 firmware, then you need to buy hardware to flash lower firmware on it..............if you want "cfw", but the console is "aged", seems like a waste of time and money)

("HAN" hack, you can probably still install it on 4.82 some links may still be up but, like you said update to 4.84 OFW then HFW, hybrid firmware for HAN .............)

(a lot of games don't work with "cfw", and a lot more require very tedious setup methods .................. you can install "HAN" with cfw, but a big waste of time, such trouble for an "aged" console .................)

(with HAN, you can still play your purchased games and content, (just themes don't seem to work, once enabling HAN after poweron.................i think for cfw it should work)

(it will take a lot of time to setup CFW ............... and a lot of tricks, and risks!!!!!!!!!!! .............. just avoid that altogether, check if there are any servers still supporting the game you want to play on ps3 online, because, nobody is there anymore!!!!!!!!!!!)

Well this guy has a lot of bad/outdated advise. First off, make a second PSN account because online play with a modded system can/will get you banned.

If you’re in 4.82 you don’t have to buy anything. He’s talking about using an E3 flasher to downgrade the OFW which you no longer have to do. You can do it all for free at this point.

Most games work for CFW, you just have to use caution if you are downloading them. Sometimes they are corrupted and will require a fix which will take a little extra time.

Doesn’t take that long to do or require tricks.
