i have an old 3ds on 11.9.0-42E and recently i installed b9s and luma3ds (and i can boot gm9 by holding start at power on.) then the mii plaza got updated and i put it into sleep mode and when it came back on i could hear sound but the screens where black but they where also slightly lit. i tried turning it on and off again but now theres no sound just black, slightly lit screens. i can boot into luma config menu and gm9 but not home menu.
also the 3d switch made the top screen flicker a little bit like it normaly would. i tried the troubleshooting on 3ds.hacks.guide (https://3ds.hacks.guide/troubleshooting) but it didnt work. is there any way to fix it without hardmod or 3ds flashcarts?

thanks.

i just tried the battery trick and theres no change but recovery mode asks if i want to update the system and the sound does work.
should i try update?
Your 3DS exhibits symptoms of a peculiar Black Screens of Death hardware brick that panders as a software brick. Read this thread for more info about it.
You can try backing up your SysNAND and repairing the firmware with CTRTransfer but be ready to look into disassembling the o3DSXL if it's that exact BSoD.

ctr transfer didnt work it just stayed at the same black screen after installing the ctrtransfer .bin file. what parts might be broken because i have some spare screens and the IR module. also i might have a wifi board but i cant remember.

ok I'll try swap some parts round and see if it fixes it.
also its an original old 3ds not the xl.
Try reseating the WiFi module first. This one is a common cause of boot problems if it's loosen.

If it's not that, take another o3DS and swap in the nonworking unit's motherboard into that donor system. This is to check if it's the motherboard that's broken versus the surrounding accessory parts.

Lastly, be careful not to break the donor system's parts when you do A/B testing.

If you can't identify or isolate the problematic part, the next best recourse is to outsource the repair to:

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
