Is it GodMode 1.8.0? That's know to have issues. Try adding 1.7.1 in the same folder, and see if it lets you select between 1.8.0 and 1.7.1. If that doesn't work, then replace 1.8.0 with 1.7.1, and see if it loads up.

For future reference, it's best to follow this guide for 3DS hacking, as videos quickly become outdated, or have places where they're just plain wrong to begin with. 3ds.guide is constantly kept up-to-date.

There is a problem with the latest GodMode9 on some consoles with the Luma chainloader. Lengthy discussion on Github:
https://github.com/d0k3/GodMode9/issues/466

As @Dani Dandelion already said, simply adding a second payload may help (if there is more than one payload, holding (START) will open the chainloader selection menu). Best rename the files in a way so that you can easily distinguish one file from the other. Like so:

SD:/luma/payloads/godmode1.7.1.firm
SD:/luma/payloads/godmode1.8.0.firm

Another solution is switching to fastboot3DS but this is slightly more complicated/more work. I personally would not (yet) recommend this for beginners although the latest OpenFirmInstaller somewhat simplifies the setup process:

I had the same problem when i modded my N3DS a few weeks ago. It's a known issue.

However, there is a way to fix it. Change the date and time on your 3DS to the correct time, then restart your 3DS and try to start GM9 again on startup.

OR - You can rename the luma firm file on the root of your SD card to "boot.firm.backup", then put the GM9 firm file on the root of your SD Card, rename it boot.firm and put it back in the 3DS and start up the 3ds as normal. It should boot directly into GodMode9.

After you do what you need in GM9, turn off the 3ds, put the SD Card back into your PC, delete the "boot.firm" from the root of your SD Card (The GodMode9.firm you renamed to boot.firm), then rename the luma "boot.firm.backup" to "boot.firm".

Then put it back in the console and start up your 3DS. It should boot into LumaCFW on boot.

That's just a bypass. But try changing the Date and Time so its correct first, to see if that works, so you don't have to rename anything.

I cannot thank you enough, seems like changing the time in this little app described in the guide works ctr-no-offset (even it the time offset is zero lol).
