Switch is becoming the best homebrew console of all time (especially if it gets Dreamcast and/or Saturn). I know money can be an issue but if it's not I suggest you invest in one well worth it. It even plays N64 roms that didn't work on PC before like Resident Evil 2, Indiana Jones & the Infernal Machine, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, and PPSSPP emulation is already really good.

Another reason I'm cynical, a lot of devs have jumped ship. Yes, there are still a few very dedicated people working on Wii U , but, I mean, I don't know what to make of it. The future is uncertain.

13 million WiiUs vs 32 million Switches as of the last investor statements is why. I'm surprised this needs to be explained. WiiU is both old and sold poorly. Newer and better selling devices are going to get the attention.

Gee, really I never would have guessed. The fact there's more interest in the PS Vita is sad, and that console was a commercial failure. Let me guess, "but it's a portable", right? Just because someone didn't sell well doesn't warrant it should be abandoned outright, left to die on the side of the road. Maybe if the Switch had a true softmod method instead of the stupid RCM dongle method, or an AutoRCM method that wasn't so risky, maybe I wouldn't be so cynical of homebrew developers, now would I?

The PSP doesn't have a "true softmod" method either, you have to reapply CFW every time. Hell, you're on the WiiU section of this site. The console that also has no true softmod method, requiring you to replace the contents of a Virtual Console game with a shortcut to the HBL and just as much risk as the Auto RCM methods you're crying about if you set it up to apply that CFW on boot. Why pretend CBHC doesn't carry just as much, if not more risk, as the Switch methods? Vita doesn't have that issue, you can outright put CFW on it and not worry about it. That makes it a popular modding device. Switch is new and both more powerful than WiiU and portable. That makes it a popular modding device.

And lets be real, you're not cynical of homebrew devs because of the methods of getting homebrew running on Switch. You're "cynical" because of your entitlement complex that leads you to believe people have to work for you for free on a device they don't care about. When both consoles were still new and alive on the market the Vita got more attention than the WiiU. 99% of what the WiiU could do for a long time was holdover stuff from Wii backward compatibility. Homebrew devs largely never cared about this platform, so why are you crying about it in 2019? Maybe you should have campaigned for things back in 2013 or 2014 when the console was slightly relevant. In the meantime, if you want to pirate PSP games I suggest buying a PSP. It's easy enough to do and has 100% compatibility.

Wii U's solution is still a helluva lot better, and safer than any solution for Switch has. Far too often I see issues and other people whose Switch consoles crash, brick, etc because of CFW.

Shoulda woulda coulda

Unles you're dumb as a box of rocks you can hack the Switch and not have any problems. You can even backup your nand in case something did happen. It's not a valid excuse the Switch is easily hackable if you have a hackable model at least.

The crashing is because people are hardheaded and use Exfat format when they've been told a thousand times to use Fat32.

The thing is, not everyone likes the wii u, and the ones that likes it, prefers make something for switch because of a bigger visibility and easier programming. PPC is not easy to program as ARM, and counting that the wii u lifeline is over, we can only count on a sporadical dev to come and make something cool, like the twilight menu from dsi, a platform long forgotten, but some devs showed and make that insanely awesome homebrew to the dsi. I thinks everything will take its time, and devs will come eventually to the wii u. Sadly only sporadically

I'm pretty sure Twilight Menu was made for 3DS but due to the nature of how the 3DS plays DS games it naturally works on the DSi. Twilight Menu can be put on a DS flash card and ran from there. It's just a loader for DS titles set up as a DS game.

Are you sad about the Vita receiving more attention than the Wii U ?, I'm sad for the garbage of the Playstation Classic Mini receive more attention than the Wii U, that does not make any sense.

As I've said before, I love Wii U, here in Brazil it is currently with a great cost x benefit (while the Nintendo Switch reaches 2000 R$ here, Wii U costs only 700 - 900 R$, it's a cheap option to play Zelda Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 for those who do not have the money to invest in a Nintendo Switch), It's a great console with great games and have features things like Netflix and Youtube to watch on TV.

I was excited to see videos like this

Because I thought that the people who develop homebrews would give a survival to Wii U as they are doing with Vita I was actually happy to be able to play Game Cube and PSP on my Wii U until I could finish the MegaMan Maverick Hunter X in it, but it seems like all this hype that I ended up creating was atoa, more and more less people are interested in doing something with the Wii U and it is sad to see a console with so much potential being abandoned for the second time.

I do not have the money to invest in a Nintendo Switch (and I will not have it any sooner), so all I have left is sit back and wait and get a shred of hope that at least PPSSPP can have a new update that improves performance on Wii U.

At least I'm glad to have had the Wii U, I was able to play Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze before the Nintendo Switch staff and without paying $60 for it.

Anyone knows how to prevent ppsspp from crashing?
I am playing persona 3 portable and when I have fast memory activated it sometimes crashes, if I disable it it lags too much
Is there a way to solve this?

Fast memory is unstable, there isn't really a fix for that. Your best bet is gonna be to dial everything down to x1, no filter, use other speed hacks, and turn on frame skipping to try and get a smooth experience.

Unfortunately it is unplayable like that
I know it is pretty unlikely, but could a future PPSSPP update fix the "fast memory" mode?
