Hello everyone!

Today I decided to order a new 400gb microSD card in order to setup Emunand on FAT32, I read about the whole process but I wanted to be 100 % sure about doing things right, I would love to hear from you guys if I understood anything correctly. I do already have a proper NAND backup.

The first thing would be to insert the new SD card into the pc and format it with the tool "guiformat" to FAT32 - after that I would insert the card into the Switch and boot OFW so the Nintendo folder gets created - am I right? Then I power off the Switch, take my SD card out and place both boot.dat and license.dat on the root of the card, then put it back to the Switch and get to RCM.

After those steps I go to options, select Emunand, choose the option "files on microSD" and the Emunand will be created. When this is done, do I need to rename the Nintendo folder to 'Emutendo' or did this already happen when the Emunand got created? Where do I place my games and the .nro files?

I would love to hear from you guys if I missed out on important things so I get everything right, just as it should be.

Any help shall be greatly appreciated.

Have a wonderful day,

Michael

PS: additional information : I am currently running FW 5.1.0, I want to keep this on Sysnand and use 7.0.1 on Emunand

I just found this post by gizmomelb - I think I am going to share it if anyone else is uncertain about how doing things, in his case everything seemed to have worked out.

"hi all,

I literally just updated my SD card and created emuNAND with SX OS 2.6.1 and updated the emuNAND to 7.0.1 a few hours ago, so hope this helps someone.

my OFW is 3.0.2 (exfat - couldn't detect the SD card otherwise), 400GB SD card and I've created SX OS v2.6.1 beta emuNAND as files (fat32 formatted partition).

what I'd really like to do though is be able to convert my hidden partition emuNAND (6.2.0) from my other SD card to files, then just move them to the bigger SD card. Much less work moving save games, profiles etc.etc.

Starting the nothing, I formatted the SD card as FAT32, then copied the SX OS v2.6.1 "boot.dat" and "payload.bin" to the SD Card.

Then I booted into the SX OS launcher with a generic dongle and RCM jog (could use tegrasmash) and SX OS launcher created the licence-request.dat file.

I then powered off the switch, ejected the SD card, put the SD card in the PC and uploaded the licence-request.dat file to the "xxxxxxx" (but the main site is now back online) registration page, entered my licence number and it then prompted me to download a licence.dat file.

I copied the licence.dat file to the SD card, put the SD back in the Switch and booted into the SX OS launcher again. only AFTER I had the licence.dat file on the SD Card was I able to create the emuNAND as files on the SD card (do not create as hidden partition as it appears some people have the cannot boot issue).

Once the files were created I had to reboot the Switch, then went back into the SX OS launcher and then it allowed me to enable emuNAND. Once I'd tested I could boot into emuNAND I decided to make a copy of the emuNAND files to my PC, just in case I needed to restore them in future (they zipped down pretty small, cannot recall file size at moment sorry).

When I was booted using the emuNAND I used choidujourNX to install firmware 7.0.1 and followed all the instructions, then it prompted me to reboot when it had finished.

I used my generic USB dongle and jig again to boot into the SX OS launcher and into the emuNAND succesfully.

So yes, I can confirm I now have SX OS 2.6.1 with emuNAND as SD files on a FAT32 formatted 400GB SD card, with 7.0.1 running in emuNAND and 3.0.2 in sysNAND.

A tip I like to give with emuNAND is change the background theme colour - so it's obvious at a glance if you're in emuNAND or sysNAND.

Cheers."

Could anyone else confirm this guide to work? Much appreciated

There's really nothing special you need to do when creating an emunand. It's pretty straightforward. The steps you detailed in your OP are fine.

I've edited it for you, sorry if it was that big of an issue for you

Im not a mod, Im just trying to help you, anything warez related the staff remove it, they don't even like people mentioning the SX site url because you can get key files from file from that website, that why it is not allowed here.

Well as I stated in the beginning of the post, it was a quote, I thought I am going to share it - since this quote is a couple of days old and no mod bothered to change it, I did not see the urgency. I will do it in the future.

Yyeah, it's a bit annoying and 'teacher-ish'? but I get it from a legally protecting point of view which is completely understandable. The staffs hands are tied.

Hello everyone,

in case anyone was in the same situation as me (very uncertain about how to create Emunand) I now can confirm, that the post I quouted by gizmomelb works 100 % - I now successfully created Emunand on a 400GB FAT32 sdcard. Everything runs fine - I am on 5.1.0 SysNAND and 7.0.1 Emunand. Thanks for your time everyone!
