So guys, I was wondering about something so we don't have to do a manual RCM so often and that would render the hack almost permanent without using a chip (of course that's only if it's a possible thing).

Here's my idea, would it be possible to create a .bin payload that'd be a sort of deep sleep state for the Console, in that mode we could remove the SD card and charge the device, it would also have to consume the least possible amount of power, then when we would press the power button the payload would load another payload like say ArgonNX or Hekate so we can boot normally to any payload we want?
Since there's now a way to reboot to a certain payload we'd simply have to reboot to that deep sleep payload instead of powering off our consoles and we'd never have to do a manual RCM except if the consoles batteries are totally depleted...

So yeah this is a question thread, I'm only wondering if this is a possible thing, only answer if you have a clue about what you're talking about...

if it where that easy it would already be done.

I did not open that thread to get such silly answers, if it's not possible, give the explanations as to why it is not but your answer achieves nothing, get away from my thread...

There are plans to add a sleep mode to hekate which would achieve a similar thing i.e. longer lasting sleep mode than in Horizon.

That is great news, thanks for your answer. Do you happen to have any source for that info so I can look it up in details?

it was just a guss based on observation....
if you find this "silly" you should check your definition of the word.

it is silly, have you read my post? I clearly specified the following, only answer if you have a clue about what you're talking about... If you had a clue about what you were talking about you'd have provided tangible informations as to why it is feasible or not, I don't care about "possible" or "not possible" answers, I can speculate such things on my own, I'm only interested as to why it is not possible or about how it is possible...

Now i'm not gonna continue this further, if you want to discuss go in PM but don't ruin the topic...

then gbatemp may isnt the best place to ask. since most people here arent homebrew devs/hackers,
maybe you will get a more in depth answer over at the reiswitched discord

I found a workaround for the removal SD thing.

Use the latest build of AMS and pull out the SD.

To be able to reboot without injecting a payload, just put it back in, and don't press "A" for the warning message about you removing the SD.
Instead, press power for 3sec and hit reboot !

That sounds like a good way to corrupt your SD card.

I use sleep mode and LAN transers and I only have to inject a payload if my Switch hard locks for some reason.

Better: Just reboot using hekate and press -. While in the menu remove the SD and replace it. Voilà!

I think the Semi perma hack that is available is installing a Micro controller to automate the Rcm process, and then you can update it using the switch usb, they are really sweet, I don't have one, don't plan to until I get a second switch to mess with.

But your idea sounds nice too : )

I think that down the line there's gonna be NAND modification to enable permanent CFW.
It could be a "slightly" modified version of Horizon to be installed with Choixdujour (which would maybe also be slightly modified).
