I'm very late to this party, but...I just read about this emulator. I run emulators for various systems on my r4i 3ds gold flashcart, but I have not yet had luck running handy, have not even seen anything to boot it up on my 3ds. Is this emulator able to work on a flashcart, or does it need to be run on a hacked 3ds only? (Or, did I just mess up a step in the installation?)

You have a handy folder and I think you put the games in there.

BTW is there a CIA of this yet?

i have the .cia file, but for some reason, so far, my 3ds has not seen it when i place it on my flashcart, as it reads other emulators no problem

all the emulators i run have a .ds file extension. when i load the handy.cia file, even in the root of my card with my flashcart, the system doesn't even see it, nor does it see it in the included folders for the emulator

the cia file is a installable file for FBI. Your flashcart is never going to recognize or run it.

I'm... That's because a CIA file is something you install on a 3ds that is hacked. If you're using a ds flashcard you won't get this to work, I don't know if there is a handy emulator for nds or not but look in the nds section, or google it

that's what i opened my discussion here with...asking if a .cia file will work on a flashcart, or only on a hacked console

You need a hacked console, if you are using a 3ds flashcard then the. 3dsx file might work

all other emulators i use work right from the SD card root...is there another option i have?
it requires userland entrypoint access on the console. So running .3dsx files is still somewhat against what you are hoping for with using the just cart itself.

sounds like this emulator is somewhat different from all the others i use. is userland entrypoint somehow possible using my flashcart?

its more a type of console hacking which requires entrypoints into it. Which I believe was likely to be something your not wanting to get into.
