it doesnt explain how to compile it so more cores work etc

Nevermind that, ifigured it out. On the dev home, in the games and apps pane, move the cursor to retroarch, press the view button, select details on the popup menu. When the next vieeshows up, change the app titile from app to game. After that, retroarch will display 5 giga available!!

Which game have you been attempting to run with beetlepsx? So far, I've tested with resident evil 2, dino crisis 2 and mortal kombat trilogy, and they all seem to run at 30FPS most of the time with some dips along the way, but it's been preety consistent so far. Though, if you attempt to mess with the graphical settings, it gets unstable and not playable at all.

Also to note, in my surface pro 4 with i7/16g ram, runs about the same, though, at least I can mess with the graphical features, not too much either.

I also tested mame mith mortal kombat roms 1-3. loads and plays fantastic. I attempted to run mk4, but, as you may have guessed, it doesn't boot on any of the mame cores minus mame 2010, but it's almost power point like and it's broken. On my SP4, it loads on mame2016, but it's unplayable there too, so not to shabby for this version of retroarch on xbox one.

the xbox one x is more powerful so it only makes sense
Yeah, I get that. But still, they are bounded by the same platform and limitations. So it might be worth it to test and document every little finding and differences between the xbixes... that way in the future, it might help when developing software on the platform.

Well, just tested the crash 2 game on beetle psx on the one x, and while the game appears to run at constant 30 fps, and animations are smooth, the music and sound is slow, unless You're on bonus stages or on parts of the game where the rendering isn't at full work... We might need some recompiled cores using direct x11 and 12. I think the same rules should be apply for retroarch itself. Maybe it's a bug of the settings menu, but it says that the xbox doesnt support x11, and we all know that's not true.

Oh well, at least for a first release it's running and playing rather well I must say! Hope this keeps up!

Have you managed to get multiplayer working? (Two controllers)
