Formatting does not require an internet connection.

Citation: I formatted my switch around when i first got it, was screwing around. no internet.

I'm pretty sure it won't unban you though.

If you have a linked Nintendo Account and you format the console, but the console is banned, you're going to get a persistent notification to connect to the Internet to unlink the account but it will never resolve and fail because the console cannot connect to Nintendo's network.

So there isnt a way to truly format?

I should preface that the following is highly unlikely but its worth mentioning. Since the only way to remove the nag once the system is formatted is by going online which you can't do with a banned system, the only solution would be to temporarily lift the ban so it can be properly unlinked. The best way to go about this would be to come fully clean to a Nintendo support employee and give a good enough reason on why you want it to be unlinked (although I don't know what would constitute as a good enough reason).

If that doesn't work, your other option isn't unlinking the account but unregistering your currently linked console as the Primary.

Cant it be unlinked through the website?https://gbatemp.net/threads/unlinking-nintendo-account-from-a-banned-switch.516078/

You didn't read through the first post.
So, the following requires me to connect online:
- User Settings -> Unlink Nintendo Account
- User Settings -> Delete User (Which just first does unlinking then deletion)
- System -> Formatting Options -> Restore Factory Settings
(While the Nintendo Recovery Mode -> Restore Factory Settings Without Deleting Save Data option does not require me to connect to internet, it doesn't unlink or delete data to do with user)

Whenever I try to do any kind of unlink action, the ban denied message appears, so I cant even unlink now...

Ok, what i want to do is sell my banned switch ( obviously i tell that its banned) so i wanna delete my stuff

You're not listening to me in the slightest. My first post already explained what will happen in detail when you format the console with a linked account. The thread you linked to me is an example of what will happen to you if your format the console now.

Oh ok sorry so the only way is to call nintendo then.

So, i call nintendo and tell them to unlink my accounts, and then format?

EDIT: i mean, are you telling me that if I dont format, i will be able to unlink without calling?
EDIT 2: i now realise that i have multiple friends account linked, so even if i could do it in the website, i can't access my friends account. I'll call tomorrow and inform you guys.

Last edited by Tumoche,
I just called and they told me to do it via web, i have done 2 of the 4 accounts that are in it ( i have not formatted yet)

Last edited by Tumoche,
So, I unlinked 3 of the 4 accounts. The one left is one of my switch account friends, so its configured as secondary( i think). When i call nintendo, they tell me to go to the website and unlink it there, but it gives me the option to do the primary, not the secondary? What can I do?
@Draxzelex
UPDATE: I formatted with the secondary in still and its not nagging me about anything
