I know we can run CFW 6.2 from a previously hacked switch. I dunno about taking a 6.2 OFW switch and hack it to run cfw.

If you have evidence here, please share it.

Also, the noob friendly sticky thread also says not to update to OFW 6.2.

You do understand that running 6.2 through atmosphere means that it's a custom firmware, right?

If you have evidence of a switch on 6.2 OFW being able to accept payloads and run CFW 6.2, share the evidence here. Otherwise, please stop with the misinformation. I've seen it hurt several noobies, and I've only been in this scene for about 2-3 weeks.
That is the only way to run 6.2 CFW apart from SX emuNAND. What you're implying doesn't make any sense.

Mike, lad YOU are a n00b so you shouldn’t be telling other n00bs what to do, especially seeing as what you are saying is incorrect.

You're the one giving out misinformation. Of course you can enter RCM and run payloads on a 6.2 unit, why wouldn't you? RCM has nothing to do with the OS, or even software in general.

Okay, if you can, share the evidence here mate.

Also, I never said it's impossible. My switch is literally on 6.2 rn funning pirated games. The dude said he was a noob and to becareful

That's not how I did it so I dunno if it's safe. I ran 6.2 CFW from a 6.1 CFW, which I got on 4.1 OFW.

OP. Just make sure to get evicende. At the end of the day, it's your switch. Not theirs. If they say you can do it, get evidence first.

Mike don't edit your post by putting in things you didn't have before after people replied and called you out fir not saying it or how you implied

I literally said I am a noob as well mate. Read up. All I saying to the OP is be careful and get evidence.

So then why is there a serial number-list for buying a switch. I just saw a guide that said that switches past July 2018 are patched?
It exists because the switches _MANUFACTURED_ as of and after July 2018 have a _HARDWARE_ patch called an ipatch that fixes the flaw used to send a payload in RCM. RCM can still be accessed you just can't send a payload.

Okay, if an non-hacked switch on 6.2 can be hacked, share the evidence here. All I'm saying is it's safer to wait and update later.
No one needs to "post evidence" because the people that are telling you that YOU are spreading misinformation have already read and understand what they are talking about. "RCM" is a flaw in the Tegra X1 SoC. It's not possible for it to be patched by a firmware update, it can only be done _DURING_ the manufacturing process, even if you sent your switch to Nintendo or Nvidia it cannot be patched, if you got one back that was patched they sent you a different switch than the one you sent in. That is how this works. However, you are absolutely correct in it's safer to wait and update later, but it doesn't matter too much right now. The only thing I'm aware of that doesn't work correctly on 6.2 right now is Noexs Remote Debugger.

*EDIT*
Changed RCM to "RCM". Technically the flaw is called fusee gelee, RCM in and of itself is not a flaw.

Mike if your using 6.2 CFW your ofw is on 6.2 too
Btw CFW can change the number displayed. Doesn't mean that's what your on. ReiNX added rei or what not ar the end a little while ago (or still is) but the base didn't change. Hell CFW can display 9.99 but you would still be on the CFW baised on your ofw e.g. 6.2

So I shouldn't fix things I'm wrong about? I literally said that I'm a noob. That I've only been in this for 2-3 weeks. What's even your point of posting here? Your intent just seems malicious now.

I think you’re the one who needs to “read up”

Lmao, dude. Chill, I meant read up as is read previous messages. I admitted that I'm a noob too. I dunno why you people felt the need to jump down my throat. But whatever. I guess some people just get off on jumping on a noob.

Lol, oh internet. How I love thee, ye cruel mistress.

When you go and say "I didn't say that" about something you did before edit makes you loose creditability and you can post after with "btw this should be this" in a new post. The post I made pointing this out wasn't out of malicious was to help you not ruin your rep, make you look 2 faced by changing facts people pointed out to you and then you saying you didn't. It was just a message on forum Etiquette

Thanks deathwing for showing us how we should edit our posts

You should use [ s ] and [ / s ] tags where you said that "RCM is a flaw in the Tegra X1 SoC" to strike that out. Quotes around it isn't as clear.

If you bought a Switch manufactured after July 2018, it has a 100% chance that it's immune to fusee (the exploit used in RCM). Those units can still enter RCM (in fact, all Nintendo Switch consoles can, since it's a standard recovery mode on all Tegra chips used for repairing them), but it won't do anything when you try to inject any (current) payloads, because they left the factory with some hardware modifications that protects them.

Yes, if you updated to 6.2, you're still running OFW, except with some patches at runtime that turn it into CFW. They are applied to RAM (which is why it goes away when you reboot or shut down/crash, etc).

Haha, it seems like you're looking for a fight for some reason pal. All I changed was when I said that 6.2 couldn't run homebrew and stuff. I can add that back if it you like. It doesn't matter to me.

And Look back at my posts. I said "I never said to NEVER UPDATE" which I didn't. I just said "don't update". which is still there.

Anyway, you can keep going if you want pal. I'm not going to fight you.

I dunno why you people felt the need to jump down my throat. But whatever.
I think the issue we have is you told people who are giving correct information and advice they wore spreading missinfomation and not accepting when people try and correct uou on your information given.

Ipatched and firmware version have nothing to do with each other. You're assuming way too much with little information.

Nobody needs to show you proof. It's been everywhere for weeks. Stop spreading misinformation

All I did was ask for evidence with the implication being that if it wasn't true to not spread misinformation. Because at the time I thought it was. I've since edited my post with the misinformation. I dunno what you all want from me here. Is jumping on a self-described noob really that fun? Lol?

I have already remedied the information, but thank you for your reply sir or madam. It was very helpful.

What are you raving on about evidence, man? There's probably 5000 users here who run 6.2 with CFW and it doesn't matter a single bit whether you update it officially (if you still can as in, if you are not banned) or do it with ChoiDujourNX. It's both updating the same OFW if you're not using Emunand.

I was just asking for evidence because I misunderstood somethings and I was wrong, so I asked for evidence just to be on the safe side. Also, there's a bunch of contradictory evidence out there as old guides, and outdated information (such as I've seen in some of the currently stickied threads, that's where I get my information) is still accessible. I was just saying to get evidence for OP to protect their switch, because I highly doubt anyone here would purchase a new switch for OP if they're locked out of CFW/Homebrew/pirated games/ etc., due to misinformation. But thanks for your post though! Cheers mate!

SX Pro and SXOS are pretty damn noob friendly unless you start messing with emunand stuff. Just use hekate to backup your nand before you do anything.

Nobody is out to get you. Here's the problem.

You originally said to the OP noob to not believe misinformation and then you yourself posted completely wrong info directly contradicting yourself. When others including myself called you out on the first page you immediately demanded proof of something that has been tested, documented and known for weeks but you needed proof because you weren't educated on it.

Before you give out any more information to people looking for help read, re-read and then read again and make sure what you are saying isn't incorrectly leading someone down the wrong path. If you're unsure then post in the noob thread and ask for clarification. And finally, be careful how you react to people trying to correct you. All you have to say is "my bad" and then move on. Don't try and defend yourself with semantics. It only makes you look worse.

I don't think I said anyone was out to get me, nor do I think I tried defending myself with semantics. But, nevertheless, thank you for the reply. If you'd like to discuss this further, we can do it over PM. I feel like we shouldn't clutter this thread with our filth anymore than it has been.

Cheers mate!
