The NDS emu Im using needs the bios but for some reason its not detecting the bios I have....help?

Also is there a standalone PSX emu?

I'm assuming you're using MelonDS? If, there needs to be a folder inside the 'switch' directory on your SD Card titled 'melonds' (the spelling has to be exact). Once that's created, copy over the bios files into the newly created folder. Make sure they are titled bios7.bin, bios9.bin, and firmware.bin. They can't be .rom files! If they are, change the extension from .rom to .bin and they should work.

As for standalone PS1 emulators, they only one I know of is a very dated and unoptimized port of beetlePSX. You really don't want to use that emulator in it's current state on the Switch. It's highly recommended to use the PCSXReARMed core in RetroArch instead.

Yea Im using MelonDS. The files seem to be named correctly, I had to rename them, and in the right place. But when I launch MelonDS it says it cant find the 3 files and my Switch freezes.

I dont really like RetroArch at all but I guess I will have to use it....how well does it play Symphony of the Night?

Can you take a screenshot of the folder on your SD Card with the BIOSes on them? Perhaps you're missing something, so It'd be handy if I could double check it.

As for SotN, I haven't personally played it on the PCSXReAMRed core yet. But from what I've heard, it runs pretty good.

I got melonds working after getting a different copy of the bios. Sadly the games i wanted to play (castlevania) are too slow even fully overclocked.

For Castlevania, did you enable Threaded Video in the RetroArch settings? That usually speeds up PS1 and N64 emulation quite a bit.

Eeek, PCSXReARMed is full speed for Symphony of the Night with no overclocking.

I was referring to the NDS Castlevania games in that post. Using melonds all 3 of them are too slow.

As for SOTN I only have the PSP version and it must not be compatible with RetroArch.....or at least I cant get it to load.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, at this point in time melonDS can't run many games at fullspeed. They did say that they are planing on porting over a hardware renderer quite soon, so that should fix the speed problem for pretty much every game.
