that's how I did my tests so far, except I don't have a non powered dongle, only my phone.

but my comment is still valid : there's only one power off command, it doesn't use a different method based on your boot0 state. whether you have AutoRCM or not, it just reboots the console with argument. then up to the bootloader to shutdown the console.

boot0 is not responsible for shutting down the console, is it? I always thought it was the bootloader.
It’s working for me if I boot up with the gear dongle then press A with power tools dongle in it does shutdown fully but without the dongle in the c port it won’t. I don’t know why but it does lol

what's your payload in gear dongle?
if it's hekate, then you are just confirming what I'm saying : it's rebooting (into autorcm f you have it) then your dongle's bootloader shutdown the console, not the homebrew.

without dongle, no payload, no bootloader to shut it down and stays in RCM.

im using sx pro with autorcm installed I don't think their autorcm is working correctly if I shut down from their bootloader section it will reboot back into rcm after about 10 secs didn't relize till the switch was dead again when I took it out the carrying case

@Cyan It's not a copy of the ReiToolbox... If you push the icon, shutdown. I only used this :

bpcShutdownSystem();
bpcExit();

Ok i make some release thread later...

@Perfect One I don't know, ask a Mod there...

sorry for late reply.

I didn't say it was a "copy" of ReiToolbox, but said it's using the exact same method than Reitoolbox :
bpcShutdownSystem();
bpcExit();

they both do the exact same thing, so they both have the exact same issue with autoRCM.

nothing shutdown the console except bootloaders.

bootloaders are either the official one from nintendo, or launched from RCM (the payload sent with your dongle).

when you choose shutdown, the console reboots (it doesn't shutdown) and wait for a bootloader to shutdown the console.
if you don't have AutoRCM, then it's not waiting for you to provide a bootloader and just launches the official nintendo's bootloader which will shutdown the console.
if you have AutoRCM, then it's waiting for you to provide a bootloader (SXOS dongle, or any other payload). If you don't provide a bootloader then the RCM drains the battery because the console is still powered.

if you shutdown from the bootloader option (hekate, sxos bootloader menu), then it should do it.
you are saying the bootloader's shutdown menu is not working? if you keep the SX dongle plugged it return to the bootloader over and over?
maybe there's a bug in the SXOS version you are using and it always send the reboots command instead of shutdown?

note that if you plug the console to any power source AFTER shutdown, it'll boot into AutoRCM. if you want to charge your console while being shutdown, you need to plug it before selecting shutdown option.

Yeah after I shut it down from sx os pyload screen and other options it will shut down but it turns back on I just tested with hekate and it shut down and stayed off after 2 days the battery was still alive at the same %

which version of SXOS are you using? did you try different version of the boot.dat ?
if you keep the dongle plugged, you can confirm it always re-run the bootloader every time you select shutdown?
you might have to report the bug to Team Xecuter if it's doing it on many version, and still does on 2.4.1

I have been using PowerToolNX since previous sx os was broken. It seems to work. Use PowerToolNX to power off switch. Wait a few seconds & insert sx pro dongle. Wait a few seconds & the sx pro dongle will flash once. Remove dongle. seems to shutdown fully.

By the way if you want an app that has more features for turning your switch on and off, use PowerToolsNX its much better, it actually turns your Switch of fully and reboots if you want too :)

Homebrew Full NSP install & Enjoy!

If you want an app that switchs off but not rcm so you can put your dongle in and it will boot instead of having to use the power button this is better EasyPower

Could you reupload this your EasyPower homebrew app to GitHub too? Or another site like Mega?

I know this is old, but similarly, is there an overlay to put the switch into sleep/shut off and/or turn flight mode on/off even while docked?
