Hello,

Im trying to install ntrboot for the first time on my 3DS following this guide : 3ds hack guide (ntrboot)
But when i try to boot into SafeB9SInstaller while pressing (Start) + (Select) + (X) + (Power), my 3DS just go black and continue with the normal boot when i remove the magnet.
Does this mean that i have bricked my flashcart (it's an R4i RTS 3DS) ?
Or i did something wrong followthing the step ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

1. Are you sure all the buttons you need to press are working?
2. Have you checked if the magnet triggers sleep mode?
3. Does the flashcard show up in the home menu?
4. Which method did you use to flash ntrboot to the card?
5. Please post a picture of the card (or a link to a site that sells the same card)

Make sure you have boot.firm on the root of your 3ds' SD card (not the one inside the flashcard!)

I do have the boot.3dsx and the boot.firm on my 3DS SDCard and i also have the boot9strap folder in my SDCard
Keep trying, it took me a lot of tries to get it working. Double check the position of the magnet and make sure you aren't moving it out of position when you hold X.
On the 2DS XL the magnet position is right on the X button so it was a bit tricky.

I did try again as usual ( more than 20+ times) but it's still doing the same thing, first the screen is black and then it turn off, and when i remove the magnet i can clearly see the 3DS menu

some tips
1. practice . . . with the power on practice putting the console to sleep with a magnet
2. see if you can find a stronger magnet
3. hold the buttons before pressing (and also holding) power

Another tip. Enable wifi. It is a great indicator if you are in NTRBoot and just waiting for "something" or if you have booted.
Also, make sure that your flashcart has a good contact -> put a piece of paper under it.

After many tries, and enabling wifi too ( which seem to launch normally) it's still goes on the normal 3DS Menu, maybe i bricked my flashcard ?
I guess i should buy a new one with ntrboot preinstalled on it ?

Make sure boot.firm is accessible: Is the SD formatted FAT32? Does System Settings/Data Management show “free blocks” for the SD?

If you have eliminated all sources of error and if the flashcard is really not flashed correctly, you're out of luck for the moment. You would need a 3DS with cfw or another flashcard to restore your card / try flashing again.
You would get a top card with R4i Gold 3DS Plus: https://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575 (with a switch for ntrboot/normal mode).

If you do not want to continue trying (or buy another card) there is always Frogminer to install B9S. This takes longer and is more work, but is pure software.
