3DS firmware version 11.9.0-42 available

Nintendo has pushed out a new firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, 11.9.0-42. It's currently not known exactly what this update brings to the table, but as always, you might want to wait to see what scene developers say before updating your 3DS, if you want to keep using homebrew. The last update, 11.8.0.41, was released in July 2018, and managed to break multiple homebrew applications upon its initial release, so it's recommended to stay on your current firmware for the time being. As always, the patch notes are for the sake of stability.

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

these stability jokes are having me fall out of my chair.

or, at least they would be; but, ya know...
Is your chair not stable enough?
Is your home terrible?
Well now introducing stability 21. With stability 21, you can fix that chair, and even that women in bed. All for free.99 Don't worry, if you update now you get the free owners bonus which is the special product stable glue! So she will never leave you again! Just glue the chair, and look! she will never leave again.
Women not included. You have to xxx years or older to order.

TSEC is not a thing on 3DS. There's not a lot they can really do to mitigate CFW on 3DS's that have been hacked via the bootrom flaw. Heck they have yet to even fix the hardware flaw with a console revision yet. 3DS doesn't have the iPatch system the Switch has. They would have to make new CPU templates for their factories to make an updated CPU with fixed bootrom to fix this. Which is really expensive from what I hear. Don't think they will ever bother with it unless they plan yet another major revision of the console....

Aside from that I checked with this:

https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/titlelist.php?date=12-03-18_07-00-42&sys=ktr&reg=E

and this for old3DS:

https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/titlelist.php?date=12-03-18_07-00-37&sys=ctr&reg=E

And they didn't change much aside from removing some hotspots from the Nintendo Zone hotspot list and changing something in the browser. NATIVE_FIRM/Home Menu was not updated. They didn't even update the friends module so don't think you'll even need this update to continue playing online.

People who didn't update, can you browse github?

I can on 11.9: could this be a TLS update?
(No, it won't fix your homebrews anyway - only the browser was updated)

Cool, so a completely non-homebrew related update. I think that Ninty has given up at this point on the 3ds.

More system stability but no update to remove the Miiverse icon off the system
If the miiverse icon goes away i'd be mad. ctrninja is working on reverse; bringing miiverse back. Plus it has communities like CTGP-7

am i the only one who thought the opposite for some stupid reason? idk why i did... :/
I think they are planning something.

So that means that Homebrew Launcher still works on vanilla 3DS? I use my European N3DS to play some japanese/american games, right now I'm playing a game, so I'm not going to update until I really know that Homebrew Launcher is still working.

Tomorrow I will beat that game, so I will update anyways...

I'm not even going to attempt to make another stability joke. Truly. Speechless.

Yeah, simce these are services that Nintendo itself has closed down the updates should really really remove them.

Is clear they only care about stopping hacking.

Still not updating my hacked old 2DS anyway.
