This is pre-installing custom firmware.
Note switch was on 5.xx at the time
I've had problems with the joycons when I first got the switch back in March.
They worked fine when not, docked, but when docked, I would have connectivity issues if the joycons didn't have a direct line of sight to the switch. Even things as simple as having my knees in the way would cause input to lag.
It was frustrating and sent it to Nintendo repairs who eventually sent it back with all issues fixed. Great stuff!

So the switch has been grand since and no issues with joycons docked at all.

CFW
So recently got the SX Pro and these are the steps that I took.
  • Upgraded to 6.xx (for exfat) Didn't test controllers after this
  • Backed up my NAND
  • Created emuNAND
  • Booted into CFW
No issues came up during the process. But now The controller problem is back! Again, no issues when in handheld mode, can move to other rooms and no issues. But when in docked mode, move anything between the switch and the joycon and the input lags. Having the controller in my lap can cause major lag and simply means I have to sit in a way so the controller always sees the switch. Not the end of the world but is an annoyance.

All the above makes me think it may be a firmware issue, either from the update to 6.xx, or the CFW. Anyone notice anything similar after installing CFW or have a fix? Need to test out other joycons but don't have any and test a different dock to see if they are the actual problem.

I thought this was only for the left joycon? both controllers aren't working

The right one I've never heard of people having an issue with. The left one was common, but the foam definitely fixes it.

Have you always had the issue with the right joycon connection, or was it mainly the left, and then over time, it became an issue?

It's been both.

I know this is a long shot, but is there anything else in the room, or close by that could be causing interference? Like a microwave oven, WIFI extender/repeater,Or a router? I know it sounds crazy, but you would be surprised how often I run into this with my clients. Im going to post a link of how to change settings in your router, but I would suggest hooking your switch up in another room, or better yet, at a friends house to see if that changes anything. TBH, what you have described leads me to think that interference is most likely the culprit. good luck. https://www.lifewire.com/wifi-channel-number-change-to-avoid-interference-818208

Thanks already tried in a different house and problem still exists. It's not the worst and might invest in an 8bitdo

I have a similar problem. I bought the Switch back in May, and only recently realized my joy cons were faulty. After a bunch of tests and moving stuff around in my house, nothing really helped and the right joy con still has terrible connection. So I bought a new pair of controllers and guess what...? Yeah, they have connection issues as well! The new ones are better than the old ones, but the left joy con randomly disconnects at times. I will buy the conductive foam and fix it, but I've read the right joy con can't be fixed with the foam. So I don't really know what to do with it...

It's really sad to realize Nintendo's product quality is getting worse. I'll have to bear with these faulty controllers and hope the Switch's next hardware revision solves all the problems.

Sorry to revive, but, i jus tbought switch, and also have this problem. Its the old serial number, when only in tv mode, joy-con stops to respond sometimes, and desyncs, joystick goes crazy and stuff. I opened, and the foam was already there! just like it supposed to be, my firmware and joycon firmware (option to update controller in switch menu) is up to date! I bought used, no warranty at all...

Got the same problem...

Recognized it with local coop games in docked - but only the joycons...
More often the right one...

I bought aeveral joycons, sent them back to Nintendo but still...

Then i bought another switch, and boy it was flawless...
But almost 3-4 weeks later (we didnt played that much) it accurs again...

The same connection lags, mostly with the right controllers..
My leg is interferenz enough...

I would love to buy an additional antenna or stuff..

I solved my problem by putting the console away from electrical interference (my pc case was the cause for interference). Now: flawless
