Hello. Months ago, before installing any nsp on my console, I backed up my nand and boot with NX-Toolkit. I was using a 32GB SD card and instead of saying "finished/deleting progress" it said "change your SD and continue" But i though it finished OK. So now I've made another one (months later) and it finished correctly.

1. I have all the files from the first backup and all of them have the same size (3.126.853.632 bytes) does it means that it backed up successfully?
2. I have autoRCM toogled ON. Should I turn it off before backing up boot0/1???

1. Most likely but supposedly NX-Toolkit++ can make corrupt NAND dumps. I highly recommend making another one with Hekate before trying to restore the one made with NX-Toolkit++
2. I would toggle it off before backing up boot0/boot1 since that is where AutoRCM is installed into. If you install AutoRCM before backing up boot0/boot1 then restore them, you may think your Switch is "bricked" but in reality it just has AutoRCM installed

Is ChoiDujourNX the preferred way to update firmware offline even if you don't care about burning fuses? And if you don't care about firmware downgrades are there any real benefits to AutoRCM other than not having to plug in the jig? It seems like AutoRCM causes a lot of problems when the Switch battery gets low. Then again would I even be able to charge the Switch in the dock with CFW installed if the battery gets low assuming I don't have AutoRCM enabled?

ChoiDujourNX is indeed the preferred way to update your firmware as it lets you control which firmware you wish to update to as well as ensure you retain exFAT support when you update (official system updates don't automatically grant exFAT support). And if you don't care about downgrading in case an untethered coldboot comes out on a lower firmware, then you can choose to toggle off AutoRCM during the installation process. But AutoRCM is a great boon as people still have trouble entering RCM manually with a jig as well as saving some possible wear and tear on your pins. The choice between using AutoRCM or not is still left up to you though.

You can shut down a Switch with AutoRCM installed. You just have to do so from RCM, not Horizon (e.g. CFW, OFW). Shutting down the console from Horizon causes it to reboot into RCM. Examples of ways to shut it down from RCM include a manual shutdown (holding power for 12 seconds) or using Hekate's Power Off function.

Maybe a dumb question, but I guess this is the best place to ask it. I haven't touched my switch once since backing it like 8 months ago, and im wanting to keep my account unbanned. Its not been online since then so i know im still okay. BUT im wanting to play Lets Go P/E online with some friends. Im sure it'll require an update to the latest firmware and i know SXOS has an EMU nand feature. Would i be correct in assuming that i can make an EMU nand with my current hacked "environment" then switch over to my normal, unmoddified stock nand an be able to play online without much issue? Sorry if this is long and rambly, i just want to cover all the bases, thanks in advance!

Wow 9 hours have now passed and Hekate is still writing the backup files. I'm at rawnand.bin.07 now and 80% of the Switch's battery has been drained since the process started... I think I'd better plug in the charger XD

Being at rawnand.bin.07 means you are only about halfway done at this point (It should go all the way to rawnand.bin.14 before you are completely done). That's not normal AT ALL. What kind of SD Card are you using for the backup? The write speed sounds insanely slow:/ You won't get done at this point.

No, I wouldn't count on that. TX implementation of EmuNand isn't even how a real EmuNand is supposed to work. It simply creates its own partition on your Nand, splitting up whatever storage space you have available and is therefore quite detectable to Nintendo due to being installed on the Nand and not the SD card. But, I'll leave the more technical details to Draxzelex, as my knowledge is limited when it comes to these things.

SX OS is the only CFW to support xci backup loading, but every CFW supports backups in the form of .nsp files. Also, .xci files can be converted to .nsp using zerotwoxci and installed that way.

Sooo , I succesfully inject the payload on my switch but when I restart my switch nothing as changed and the homebrew launcher doesn't work when I go to the album

Any ideas? the part with the 10th pin was so difficult I hope I won't have to do it again

EDIT : I went to the discord of ReinX guide and they were really nice to me and help me a lot , my Nintendo switch is functionnal now ! I just have to find some good homebrews so if you guys, have any ideas feel free to tell me !

My switch finally arrives tomorrow (pretty excited). I've read some guide to prepare and now am at a stage where I'm downloading tools/homebrew I'll need and have a few questions.

Looking at https://www.sdsetup.com/console?switch I see a ton of choices, just wondering what are some options, homebrew, extras, tools I should consider (on or outside of that site) and why?

With a quick look through:
I know I want Atmosphere CFW with sig patches.
Not sure if I need the kosmos toolbox or updater.
I know I probably need homebrew menu and tinfoil.
Not sure what gag order even gags, or which save manager would be better to get.
Not sure which loader(s) I should use to payload.
Not sure what utilities I would need, want or find useful.
Not sure which tool I should use to payload (I have access to android, windows and linux).
Are there any other tools, utilities or homebrew worth considering that wasn't listed here?
How do I verify a NSP is safe to install and won't brick my switch before installing it?

what should i do before updating using ChoiDujourNX? i have a clean NAND backup before installing any CFW at 6.0? i heard i wont be able to use this backup anymore once I update and accidentally burn fuses on 6.1. so should i restore everything first then update online then backup again?

Haven't been on my switch for over a month or so. I'm on firmware 5.1.0 and I'm using licensed SXOS (Not sure what version, it's obviously not up to date) Was wondering if it'd be safe for me to update to latest firmware and the latest SXOS? May be a dumb question but seeing as I've been out of the loop for a couple months I want to make sure I don't screw anything up. Also, should I redo my nand backup? Cheers!

Yeah I made sure to check the serial. It's a third party refurb, but if by some bad luck it's refurbed by nintendo and just sold by the third party I can pay $32 restocking fee and buy an open box one instead for $25 more. $57 cost but better than getting stuck with a patched unit, but I doubt it got patched during refurb.

ReiNX automatically includes the necessary "sig patches" for launching backups you don't own. To be specific, it is file named es_patch.rxp (ES stands for Eticket Services which are needed to launch .NSP files) and located under /ReiNX/patches.

Other must have homebrew apps are ChoiDujourNX and dOPUS. And you can verify .NSP files with this tool.

If you want to minimize being banned, you should restore your clean NAND, burn fuses by updating online, then making another NAND backup. If you want to update without burning fuses, you can use either ChoiDujour or ChoiDujourNX but you risk a ban by doing so. I should mention the risk of being banned for using ChoiDujour is less than ChoiDujourNX because the former relies on RCM while the latter uses homebrew.

Although no game still requires 6.X (even Pokemon works on 5.1), you can update your firmware with ChoiDujourNX which doesn't burn fuses. If you do burn fuses when updating, which happens if you ever update online, then you should make another NAND backup.

i have bout 10 backsup installed on my 64gb micro sd i barely have 1.2 gb left free space - how large is the NAND backup? is it okay with that little space to run the util to back it up?
