Homebrew Question Bricked My Switch Can Someone Help?

I understand the "always backup your nand" part but please let's be real it's not their fault if someone bricked their console. If I get a virus on my PC is it my fault too ? I'm genuinely curious on why you would put your programming skills to destroy someone else's console, there is no benefit in doing this. Would you take someone's console and fucking throw it on the ground for no reason ? I don't think so but you did the equivalent with this malicious software...
By the way my Switch is fine.

There was the same situation in the company where I worked. We forgot to make backup copies, and one of the employees demolished the system completely, running a trojan into the local network. Since then we have been using a good antivirus, a program for monitoring the staff SoftActivity, and of course we save backup copies in advance to avoid such situations in the future.

unfortunatly that is not gonna happen and once "releases" are getting shared again on that discord server people will download them waiting for the next brick to happen. sad thing? they even spread the .nsp on the same discord server to people that trusted them. make some research guys. there is way "safer" ways to get releases then random discord servers. yes. you probably have to wait a day or two longer but you will not have these problems anymore in the future

i was a donator on that server. i ended up leaving and wont be going back there anymore

theres a <discord name> 2.0 version of that server that someone made so im there now
but i mostly use cdn to get my stuff nowadays, even though i still donate

no, I didn't post the NSP on the server I admin on. I wouldn't do that.

pretty much wait for official scene releases. never download any unverfified p2p stuff from random people. and even with the scene releases. only get them with the original scene packing and verify the hashes with a program. to be even more secure compare the files you downloaded with .dat files that you can find from trustworthy people (cant link anything of course).

just downloading everything from everywhere on places that bloat up with people you dont even know will always end up in something like that.

and even if people dont want to miss on p2p releases you can still always just wait a day or two to see if stuff is clean. obviously does not help the early adopters.

a discord channel even took games as donations. that method with the brick code is so easy that any submitted game can now be infected with it. and there is no "fast" way to check it. even if the brickcode is in a program like switchbackupmanager still tells it is a legit version.

just keep in mind that every single nsp. does not matter if full game, game update or dlc can have this shit in it now if you dl from sources you are not sure about if they are legit or not

another really sad thing about this is that switches that are able to be exploited are getting "destroyed" like that. why would anyone want to reduce the number of hackable consoles that are limited because nintendo fixed it? only nintendo would have a interest in that and you know the sad thing? it was not even nintendo. it was the "own" switch hackiing/piracy community. if i would work at nintendo i would laugh my ass off right now because my "enemy" is stupid enough to destroy itself. What would you prefer people do? It's very easy to tell people to quit whining if it wasn't your money. They aren't getting any support from the site staff (seriously, no ban for the author?) so let them at least vent as much as they need to.

Lets the mods decide a punishment like they have already said they are doing. I get wanting to vent, but it seems pointless to clutter the thread with saying this was shitty when the person who did it even says himself it was and he regrets it. The mods said they'll deal with it, we dont need 500 members telling him to go die in a hole (or worse, doxxing)

Let me tell you guys the whole story.

Basically, OG made some brick code, threw it into an NSP and said "anyone wanna post this on DU?" I did. It was funny. But you know what isn't funny? Having your switch permanently bricked because you forgot to make a nand backup. Yes part of it was my fault, and part of it was OG's fault, but you have to remember, none of you made a NAND backup. I don't care at this point if my credibility or my reputation goes down the drain, I just needed you to know the truth. Of course some of it was mine and OG's fault. But some of it was yours too.

I can't believe this person did that and also transferred the responsability to who used his fake let's go bricking nsp.

I hope for the day who does this kind of stuff get jailed without any mercy.

He also must had lose access for any device and internet connection for his entire life.
