Title says it all, I've heard you could dump it with MagicDisc, but it refuses to work on my laptop, and a VM with Windows 7 refuses to detect the disc properly.

Am I suppost to softmod my console now, because I really don't want to do it.

Hm, I don't know how long trails last.

Might be easier to just download the dump from somewhere. Practically every PS1 disc has been dumped already. http://redump.org/discs/system/psx/ << For reference only, but still useful.
I actually prefer to have my own dumps if possible. I have the feeling that it's 'mine' and (safe) rom sites keep being taken down.

ImgBurn worked well enough for me many years ago.

Just be careful with the installer I seem to remember it has optional adware.
Yeah, this is why Unchecky exist. It did an attempt on installing Yahoo.
It didn't work out for me. Am I using the wrong settings, maybe?

Ok, so here's what I did:
I've set both the writing speed and the reading speed to 1x.
I don't think this should affect any speeds with the binary file or emulator, but I dumped it. Does this method also work with PS2 games?

PSX discs are easy to dump, I thought you could just do it with ImgBurn or similar.

yes, you can dump pretty easily ps1 and ps2 isos with imgburn
doesnt matter the speed unless its damaged discs or your reader sucks lol
save yourself the time and read it at max or auto speed, verify the checksum of the iso against redump and you are good to go

btw prefered way to ps1 is bin (or img, dont remember which) + cue file, to create the cue you can do it in the imgburn top menus
ps2 games are usually dumped in iso format
