Glad it's out, but I think I'll wait for emunand. Or the release of Smash. Whichever occurs first since Smash will likely force me to update to 6.0 (I'm happy on 5.1 until then). I want that sweet online play, and most of the things I'd do with a hacked Switch aren't online.

I'm still running firmware 1.0.0. is there any reason for me not to update at this point being that Atmosphere seems to run better on higher firmware? If I do stay on 1.0.0, as far as I can tell, I need to purchase a Japanese copy of Puyo Puyo Tetris S. I just wanted to double check on how others are getting along on 1.0 before purchasing or updating.

Stay on 1.0 and yes you’ll need Japanese Puyo Puyo Tetris.

If you really want to update use ChoiDujourNX, to prevent fuse burning

Man time sure flies. Can't believe it's only been a few years since the first 0.7 release and we've been getting releases on the same exact day per year, too.
Or maybe every day is June 15th

If you know someone who has fakenews already installed you can use this instead of Puyo

Or even just install an nsp of Puyo

But yeah there's no point being on 1.0.0 until Jamais Vu releases so you might as well use ChoiDujour to update and save your fuses

Well, I ended up finding a “cheaper” copy of the Japanese Puyo on eBay so I got it. Maybe it will pay off in the long run by not updating for all of this time.

Just to be clear, Is Puyo needed regardless so that I can get into service mode? Being that I do not have anyone with fake news available around me?

If you don't want to use a jig, then yeah Puyo then the browser then reboot_to_rcm.nsp is your only option

And Raj actually shared the fakenews save file on the last post of the first page of the transplant saved data topic too

Bummer, I wish I would have known that before purchasing Puyo then. Lol. Maybe it will still be useful for something. Thank you for the information though! I’m still reading up on updating without burning fuses though. Hopefully it will work out without problems.

It'll be fine, I've gone from 1.0.0 to 5.1.0 then restored my 1.0.0 NAND then went up to 6.0.0 then restored it again and now I'm back on 5.1.0

Don't ask why lol but it's pretty simple if you follow the guides

That’s awesome to hear man. I am excited to be able to play some newer games.

Is there any reason why you ended up on 5.1 as opposed to 6.0?

Not really, just had no issues with it and cos 6 was newer didn't want any unknown issues with homebrew so just went with 5.
