What if we just say "any" NSP? I just assumed game updates have public keys like they used to
Well yes, any .NSP can be dumped with this tool whether it be a game, update, or DLC. .NSP files aren't encrypted with any console-specific keys in the first place; they're all encrypted with public keys.

What I mean to say is that I want to create a NSP for an update I don't have, not dump an update I already have

I've been out of the loop since the 3DS hay day, so I have no idea what's going on. I guess you can't download directly from the CDN anymore?
Nintendo recently changed the way the CDN works. Outside of needing a console certificate, that certificate now needs to be on that came from a firmware 6.0 console (has to have been updated online) as well as an edge token that lasts 24 hours. The way to generate edge tokens is being kept private for various reasons.

Very good reasons at that. Oh well nothing wrong with the old fashioned way of doing things

I have been away and not following the scene much. I was wondering if there are any convenient ways to run emulators without having to use a jig and tether to a PC yet?

Isn't the TrustZone hack the first one to come out?

What is Deja Vu:
Warning: Spoilers inside!
This is the name of the Trust Zone exploit implementation for FW 2.x-4.x. This will be used to launch Atmosphere when it is released.

I need to update that info, but dejavu and jamisvu are the names of the exploits

Well, hexkyz also mentioned he ported it to fw 6, but didn't specify if 6.0 or 6.0.1, etc. I guess that's why I was confused. I always remembered Trust Zone being <4.x. Thanks for clearing that up!

yea, I saw, not sure if 6.0.1 broke it or not. but dejavu when it is released will work on 2.x upto 6.0 at least

I'm looking to hack my fw 1.0.0 switch but there's a lot of information to process.

What I'd like to do is hack it so I can use homebrew, retro emulation, play backups, etc as well as back up the fw in case I ever want to roll it back. I know there are utilities that will let me do this but I am not 100% confident I understand it all. I know I can use ChoiDujourNX to update the fw without burning the fuses so that reverting back to 1.0.0 is always possible. I have a jig, a 256GB microSD, a Win10 pc as well as an android phone and OTG cable if necessary. I've seen/read numerous guides but they all have different information and I'm not sure how to proceed...

Can someone provide a nice straightforward guide for my needs or at least point me in the right direction?

first follow this guide  Backup nand and keys
Then follow THIS or THIS to get a CFW of your choice (first link is reinx, second is sd files for atmosphere)

When you have them use choidujourNX to do your firmware update. Make sure you enable autoRCM and block your gamecard otherwise rollingback will be useless.

hope that helps.

soon tm

when dejavu is fully patched out then you will be fine, otherwise they'll just patch it beforehand
Ok thanks. I admit my Switch is just sitting in a box waiting. I don't need to connect online so no worry about bans. It is FW 4.something. I am too lazy to do all of the jigs and tethering every time to play an emulator so a permanent CFW will be great someday. Good to know it is possible at least.

I’ve been using SXOS past few months, just recently changed to Atmosphere because of IPS game patching feature. Having a bit of trouble with 2 CFW’s on the 1 microSD card.

I can’t go back to SXOS when the console has been turned off when it was in Atmosphere CFW. I have to delete the Atmosphere files, only then will SXOS work.

And what’s the best alternative to having to use a PC+Tegra everytime I need to turn console off & on again for Atmosphere?

Does enabling nogc KIP1 via ReiNX Toolkit disable the game card reader? Or did I burn some fuses by updating to 6.0.1 from 3.0.2? >.>

nogc disables the gamecard yea. I'm not sure how the finer details of it works such as if you need to use it or if its automatically done. Maybe ask in the reinx discord for that one

    ewww key shops...
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Why do you really want to use key shops nowadays? You're not really paying towards the companies who provided the keys, plus its very sketchy.
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
https://gg.deals/game/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night/ - I rather use the proper shops, but here are Key shops shown as well. They tell you the risks as well with each shop

  • linuxares @ linuxares:
One of the keyshops is 95% off at the moment (probably humble bundle keys)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
And a small percentage of keys bought with a stolen credit card.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
You never know if the key works or not, they don't provide a guarantee.
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
Sure is... and poor devs get hit with the charge backs
    +1
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Exactly.
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
Thor from "Pirate Software" said its just better to pirate the game than buy from a keyshop if you care about the devs

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
devs don't get hit with the chargebacks, the keys are free to generate
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    at least on steam
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
Except he said the DEVS get hits with the chargeback cost
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
since the key gets bought with a stolen credit card
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
there's nothing to charge back because the keys don't cost them money to generate in the first place
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
If the game has a crack sure
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Most these crack sites have dead links anymore or the crack don't even work
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
@The Real Jdbye What don't you get? If someone use a stolen creditcard. Then sell said key on G2A. If I the dev sold the game key, I will get the charge back cost. That's how it works, it doesn't matter if I generate 300 keys if 300 of them are bought with stolen credit cards. I never said it was on Steam, but its the dev that gets hit. There is a ton of stories out there if you google it.
