OP
A couple of weeks ago I got a USB C female to male cable so that I can keep my Switch outside of the dock for better air flow, since I play mostly in docked mode for long periods of time. Although the cable is working, now and then the video signal disconnects and it goes to a black screen for about 2 or 3 seconds. I already got a refund, so does anyone know of a good cable that actually works?

The whole USB C cable scene is a complete shitshow. So many of them are out of spec and can be dangerous. There was a google engineer, Benson, that did testing of various cables a few years ago but he stopped for lack of funding so his info is rather out of date at this point. Amazon Basics and Anker are generally good brands for cables but they do not appear to make an extension or an adapter. Not sure about Belkins quality currently.

I tried poking around Amazon but everything looked like a cheap Chinese knockoffs. You could try poking around with device manufactures websites and stores and see if you can find something but it will not likely be cheap. Samsung, HP, Apple, Dell etc. just have to hope they are not going to carry some crap out of spec cables that will fry their customers devices.

Another option is to shuck the dock and get a 3D printed enclosure made that fits your needs. There are tons of designs out there.

So I did some rearrangement of my setup, and now the screen doesn't flicker. I wonder if it was a pin that wasn't connected properly. I still intend to replace the whole thing in the future for a smaller setup though, so your answers were still helpful, thanks.
