Hello there, I have recently found a Korean NES (Hyundai Comboy) and I know the basics about it. It's pretty much identical to an North American NES except it is apparently region free, has different branding and stickers, and the board inside says Hyundai on it. Other than that it seems identical in every way... well except that no matter what it doesnt do the blinking error... like ever, even when power is on with no game inside.

So basically I am wondering if anyone has any info on these, like how often you have seen one or heard of one being sold/bought, rarity, price, pretty much any info u can get would be appreciated.

I took a few pics of the console and the multicart that was inside it... 15385315782497990815242340026675.jpg 153853172129818909923275384637.jpg 15385318000682051449779413595976.jpg

Oh wow, that's nice. I would assume the lack of a blinking light is similar to the NES-101, where, as it doesn't have a lockout chip (if it's region free, it wouldn't have a lockout chip, or it would function differently), there's nothing to cause the blinking light. On an international NES with the lockout chip disabled, the blinking light also doesn't happen.

Thanks, I have read that page before. I was hoping for other info from people who have experience with this system...

The page even says: "So much of the system remains unknown due to the rarity of the console of itself, as well as most information being in Korean."

Yet everyone I talk to either knows nothing about it or say it's very common to find one even though those sources also said they never seen one themselves, even though a few of these people are collectors with used game stores... the inconsistency of info about this astounds me especially since info on collecting for the Korean SNES, GameBoy and N64 are out there

I dont think I ever knew it was because of the lockout chip, thanks for that info :)

I do have a top loader NES as well and had no idea it was region free
