Hacking 6.0 RCM hackable? Relatively safe from banning?

Hello, I have just recently found out about the Switch hacking scene. I have previous experience with PS3, PSP, and Vita hacking but hardly any experience with Nintendo products. I have a first release switch on firmware 6.0, I know that the original Switches (and I think all current Switches from what I was reading) can be hacked via the "unpatchable" Recovery mode exploit.

My questions are:

-If a 6.0 system is hacked only for the purpose of running retroarch, what are the chances of being banned?
-Can a hacked system even go online anymore or is it like hacked Sony products, no more online gameplay?

Firmware doesn't matter. what matters is WHEN you got your system as current ones are indeed patched against payload booting

The second you hack your system, even if it is just for emulation or homebrew you forgo ALL online usage ever. If, for any reason, you want to go back after hacking, you must first make a backup of your nand. That way, you can use homebrew and keep your system offline and if you want to go back using online simply restore your pre hacking backup and use online

The banning thread is right here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub-warning.508710/

Somewhere between 0 and 100%
-Can a hacked system even go online anymore or is it like hacked Sony products, no more online gameplay?
No

Next time, please do not open a thread unless you have a specific question that can be answered by checking the pinned threads. Thank you.

If all you're doing is loading the Homebrew Launcher to run emulators, your odds of being banned are low compared to doing some other things. However, your odds are not 0%.

A hacked system can go online, but you risk being banned. If you're banned, then you will never be able to use online play with that Switch again. Some things carry a higher ban risk than other things. If you plan on hacking your system, it's a good idea to make a NAND backup before you do anything else. After making the NAND backup, you should keep your Switch offline throughout the duration of using hacks. If you decide online play is worth more than the hackery, you can restore the old NAND backup and hopefully not get banned.

I apologize, I did look in the banning hub thread but did not see these specific questions asked. At least nothing about being banned solely for the use of retroarch in conjunction with playing online.

I was hoping this wasn't the case as I know both the Wii U and 3DS are capable of going online and using online services while modded.

So is it similar to the Wii U and 3DS? Hacked consoles can go online just fine but if you are actively using a hacked game while using online services it is a red flag that heightens risk of banning?

Not quite. If you install any NSP files or play any XCI files, you risk getting banned the moment you connect your Switch to the internet, regardless of what you're doing on the Switch at the time.

Interesting, definitely not as "risk free" as the Wii U then. My Wii U is hacked with CFW, has a bunch of custom VC titles, and Smash4 has a ton of custom skins, and I'm still able to play online without the fear of being banned.

Don't kid yourself. Nintendo still needs a way to restore broken consoles and/or run diagnostics, so there will ALWAYS be a way to boot payloads. The real hackers just need to figure out how. Magic signature/header on the payload or in the SD card's MBR/Partition table is the common thing. This community figured it out with the PSP and Pandora Battery+Pandora memory stick (which I still carry around in my computer case, for some reason), NTR Boot on the 3DS... I'm confident the Switch will have its thing as well.

Oh excuse me was that what i said? That there will never be a way to bypass the ipatch in the future? Because i was under the impression that what i said was that the current(recent) units are ipatched, nothing more nothing less. Bottom line is, READ MY COMMENTS BEFORE YOU GO ON THE ATTACK! I NEVER said that there isn't a possibility of these ipatched units being hacked in the future, not even CLOSE. Currently, as of right now, there isn't a way

You said exactly what I quoted. That's what a quote is. I'm disagreeing. Welcome to the internet.

So you're disagreeing on the fact that the current units are ipatched? Again your comment towards me makes NO SENSE as i said nothing about the POSSIBILITY of the patch being bypassed. All i said was" current units are patched against payload booting" which they are and thus far a bypass has not been found. I said nothing about the possibilities, i said nothing about future ways of bypassing it, thus you have no reason to disagree as what i stated was undeniable fact and your comment towards me seems more like trying to bicker than anything else. Step back, stop the trying to start an argument, stick to the topic at hand. Thank you and goodnight

you don't sound much like someone who really understands what they are talking about. Being able to fix consoles, reload firmware, run diagnostics has nothing to do with booting payloads. All of the justifications you mentioned can certainly be done in a secure manner without leaving an exploit for people to take advantage of.

Sigh... Nintendo techs can boot payloads, therefore they are not "patched against payload booting". I'll just leave it at that.

Don't know who you are, but you may be surprised how many actual adults are here and in the tech industry. Most electronics have tools written for the techs to use for the things I have mentioned, and it DOES involve running code on the machine. So,if YOU don't know what you're talking about, it's probably best to sit back and grab some popcorn. Ashura66 is like a fish on a kook right now

So just because techs, as in the people who WORK FOR NINTENDO, can get around them does that magically mean they AREN'T Iptached against payload booting from a general users? And, while im at it, why in the world re you even bringing up techs here? See why i mean your comments make no bloody sense?
