Hacking eshop error 005-4240?

Something tells me this has to do with the recent update, right as freeshop went kill. I can't access the eshop due to this error right at start, even after several restarts.

What does this error mean, really? Another banwave? Am I banned or is it detecting non-matching tickets against my account? Should I get rid of the tickets? I heard the famous ticket website went off too.

I have exactly the same problem! Maybe this is because of the earthquake in Hokkaido?
I have a N3DS with Luma 9.1, and last week the shop still worked.

Stop being so paranoic. The 11.8.0 will not ban you instantly and only to you; if there's a banwave, you'll see a lot of threads talking about it.
Also, if you had made some research, the 005-4240 is because your console isn't connectin' with the eShop, because your Internet connection is slow or the eShop main servers themselves being down (because whatever). It has nothing to do with the 11.8.0 update neither with a banwave. Be scared if you see the 002-0102 code on your 3DS when trying to access any Internet content, even your Friends List mini-app.

Also, yeah.
Delete those tickets with FBI to avoid any issue.
Enter FBI>Tickets>Press Button A>Select "Delete unused tickets">Succeed
It's imperative that you do it 'cause with the spoofed tickets the eShop won't work.

I researched a lot, mind you?
The error code was related to having a faulty/no connection to their servers, yeah, but their website (now updated) said that the servers were running just fine, meaning that they could have blacklisted my console and instantly blocked connection to it, instead of showing me a specific error about being banned.

Sure buddy, because there has been cases just like the one you descripted, and also because Nintendo isn't clear enough when they ban you and they show a lot of unclear codes and also because the 3DS has the capability of blacklisting you and blocking your connection to Internet through the 3DS.
Also! Because making a simple Google search about the code doesn't give any actual info.
Just stop being paranoic a little bit and stop creating false ideas about the 11.8.0 and the bans. Is crystal clear: 002-0102 is the most common code for being banned, but almost every 002-xxxx is ban code. 005-xxxx are almost every time releated to bad connections and the inability to connect to Nintendo servers and 007-xxxx is a bad data/bad ticket code. Nintendo doesn't block connections without givin' a ban code, unless you screw enough with the system to make it display bad or custom codes instead of the regular ones. Also, is pretty weird if you get banned by following the "rules" (also not cheating online and not playing games before release) out of a banwave.
Take it easy man! If a banwave is comin', it'll hit everyone of us here (almost) and also, there are ways to unban the console. Just don't be paranoid because it's not good to anyone... specially yourself.

That page is kinda confusing, at the top it seems to always say "Currently, all servers are operating normally.", but if you scroll down, you get the maintenance info
