funny, that's what I always saw the 3DS scene when it was active.
the easier it is to hack, the worse it is with people.

I think when it was hard, and expensive to hack and launch homebrew (gba time in 2001), we had only people who had enough knowledge and time doing it. now everybody want his own, even kids younger than 10yo give their view and expect everything done for them on silver's plate.
Nothing is easy and a lot of people seem to miss that

It's like every time I come here to check out some amazing progress into Switch hacking there is drama happening. Back in the NDS, 3DS and Wii U days it felt like the entire community was working together and sharing ideas, but I come on the Switch hacking and it's all competition and the one trying to make the other look bad.
What gives?
What's with all the great hostility?
Is it me or is there very little comradery in the Switch hacking scene?
The 3DS and Wii U scenes were pretty bad as well.

so basically the same stuff going on right now
Considering about most of the people involved is the same, it's not really a surprise the same situation repeats itself.

wish i was around to see that. Ive heard great things about the psp homebrew community. like some dude who added a camera to his umd drive and an extra analog stick and stuff like that
The PSP scene was pretty insane. I missed out on some drama, but the progress was great.

3DS and Wii U had no drama? Are you joking? The only recent scene to be drama-less is the Vita scene. Last time we had a good Nintendo oriented scene in general was the Wii/DS.

The NDS scene was really great. I look back at them like the golden days.
Small weak little system, but everyone was pushing its boundaries.

I must've missed the drama on the 3DS scene. I didn't spot any beyond "dammit my 3DS got bricked!!".
If you sneezed within a 400 mile radius of any 3DS scene related topic, people would call you out for being a hatemonger, for no reason. You had toxic devs and the whole Gateway brick debacle, and then when the newer hacks came out, people started hounding each other over what CFW they used. Preachy purists complaining to everyone. Devs were run off by other angrier devs, devs were run off by bratty kids, etc.

The Wii U was so dead for a while that it was actually okay. Then people started being so desperate as to believe in false promises and other insanity, and threw a fit when it wasn't delivered because they believed they were owed CFW.

Then you had all these little communities form full of people who wouldn't last 5 seconds on any sane forum forced into making their home on Reddit, creating a never ending cesspool of idiocy.

This is why I lost my faith in humanity a while ago.

The Switch is my first scene experience and I must say: it's not so bad.
Sure there are some people trying to ruin the atmosphere but in general a lot of positive people are out there as well making it pleasant.
