Ok so, i modded mt new 2ds xl with the 4gb micro sd card it came with but i want to use my 64gb card but the 64gb card cant be formatted to fat32 while the 4gb is fat32 on default. i know for a fact that the 64gb can be use on my ds because it worked fine on my old 3ds. would i be able to just do the whole process all over again with the 64gb or would i have to wipe my ds and go from there?

Of course it can. People have been doing that for years now. You just can't do it with the 3DS directly or the built-in Windows tools. Minitool Partition Wizard is popular, or you can format it in your 3ds with godmode9.

That means it's already fat32-formatted.

Unless you're using an emuNAND for some strange reason, all you have to do is copy the files from your 4 GB card to your 64 GB card. You don't have to do any "process all over again".

But you should probably run h2testw on your 64 GB card to make sure it is functioning correctly.[/quote]

@Kwyjor gave you the answer. Use Minitool Partition Wizard (free edition) for formatting. You can also use guiformat as another option.

Lastly, anytime you purchase a new SD card, check it with H2testw before using it.

Conversion without formatting is a paid feature. But deleting the existing partition and creating a new FAT32 partition is not.

This is not a difficult thing to search for.

I don't know what makes you think it's exfat, but if it worked with your old 3ds, it is not exfat.

Also, you do not have to "re mod" anything.

I went digging and found this.
The free edition does not support NTFS to FAT conversion just as you've stated. Thank you for pointing out this discrepancy. I've been misleading many previous users by suggesting that they use this program as another substitute to guiformat.

While I do have the Free Edition installed on my computer, there is also a previously installed old version of the professional edition that I have. I never experienced those restrictions on the program's features most likely due to the license key carrying over.

So for your case, you'll either have to use GodMode9 or guiformat to get your card in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster.

Edit - Ninja'd by @Kwyjor. Apparently, there is a roundabout way to reformat in FAT32. Nice.

Then I think you are selecting the wrong option, unless the program has recently changed completely.

Did you check any of the links from the Google search?
