Hacking Adafruit Trinket M0 problem

One of these just arrived, however upon plugging it into the PC it keeps connecting / disconnecting (can tell by the sound the PC makes), double clicking on the button makes it momentarily show up in file manager but disappears as quickly. Anything I can do or is this unit faulty?

have you tried a different port, usb 2 and 3? You can try the solder fix in your link, but you might just have to send it back for a refund, sounds like it might be faulty

Yeah tried other USB ports, same thing problem. Bit loathed to use the solder method as if it doesnt work they may refuse a refund

I'd just return it, if you got soldering skills I'd suggest just buying a trinket m0 and making your own.

Go to adafruit website, I had the same problem
If you have Win7, install their driver
If you have AIDA64 running, exit from it and try again...

sounds to me like the LDO regulator is drawing too much power.

Power the unit from a battery, or a powered hub and try again. As soon as you power up, double-press reset

Unlikely the SAMD is at fault if it showing up.

Its got to be the regulator or one of the filter caps.

Can you connect a 3v battery to the 3v point on trinket? So + goes to 3v and - goes to GND?

I have no idea what I’m doing as far as motherboard or soldering. This has happened after applying the "fix" on the sellers Github. I was able to inject the SX OS payload once.

I think they have pads for debugging on the back under the gob of hotglue.
I'm toying with mine right now. I feel bad for these other people but I don't mind so much, it'll give me a few hours of entertainment for $15.

If it were an adafruit one it wouldn't be as much of a problem since all the pins are exposed

Yeah that's what OP is talking about. No-name rcm dongles based on SAMD21 chip. They're basically a trinket broken out to a usb c port on one side, and a usb-a male on the other to charge it and update fw/payloads. For some reason they seem to be stuck in a bootloop, mine never worked at all, other people used the update instructions that came with it and found theirs in a similar state. I'm hoping to find a way to get it rolling again without having to solder for the peeps in this thread that aren't able or don't want to mess with the tiny smd resistor that the seller has pointed as the solution.

I was in a similar situation, but after flashing it eventually popped up as a storage device on my PC (The original expected behavior), and I was able to copy a uf2 to it without issue.

This device is a little too big for internal installation... And the firmware is not made to allow for updating of payloads over the Switch's USB C, just that USBA. @mattytrog are the pins leading to the USBs from the controller the same for every Trinket clone? Would flashing a payload such as the one created by you for the original Trinket M0s conflict in any way? I assume its flashed with a bootloader that tells the device which pins go to what, uncertain how these things work.

The soldering on the fine pitch USB-C end of mine is pretty janky, I was considering that may be the issue before I logged on here and saw other ppl saying theirs was okay before they tried to update the payload.
