The information given in the first post is different than the post Drxaslalsxis is referring to. If users weren't allowed to make posts and give information to others, we wouldn't get anywhere, and everyone would be confused.

It's just anything ban related, you can be sure to see the dude promoting his own thread, whether it has relevancy or not.

He feels like he's the end all solution and guru to bans, yet has nothing but speculation in his thread. Having all the data collected, yet no offer of information as to what is actually causing a ban doesn't really help anyone. If a kid wants to go online and trust the OP here, let them.

OP : Go online, these things seem to ban you so don't do them.

DRXAHSLDLD: Ban yourself. Your post isn't stickied like mine, so never make posts on GBAtemp.

No, but it's a great thread to actually gain information about bans and what may lead to them. We don't need anymore speculation threads like this.

>Boasting about a stickied thread (insecure much?)
>Thinking that this thread is actually usefule
Stop making false and useless drama.

Maybe you misunderstood, I was giving an example of what the first two posts in this thread looked like to me. The OP gave a guide, and the dude replied rudely, and then insecurely? mentioned that his post was stickied, so.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Spitballing ideas and general common sense as an avoidance to bans which if you were following along at home you'd know that none of these prevent bans.

You're calling the OP a liar?

I'm not calling the OP a liar. I'm saying that Drax's thread has some nice info relating to and how to avoid bans. That's why he says to look at that thread, it's more coherent and it's polished/finished/etc

It's a stretch to call that coherency, and it was the other dude who had said not to speculate that began speculating that the OP was lying.

Here's the thing. Everyone has been banned for something. We don't know exactly what causes or triggers the ban outside of tampering with the system. Which is insanely vague. I've used homebrew and ran my own personal backups and have yet to be banned. Whereas a few reports of using legitimate backups have caused bans. Of course there may be holes in the reports, I can guarantee you that every point covered in OP has been covered elsewhere in terms of validity.

If you install NSPs and connect to the internet at all you'll be banned

That´s just wrong, i´ve installed over 100 nsp´s on my 400gb sd card, all via devmenu, and i can go online without a problem i can even play my legit copy of MK8 online.
What you probably mean is that you should not START any nsp (or xci!) while online, THAT will result in an insta-ban, but as long as you just got them installed that´s NOT a verified ban reason.

Second Step, never update NPS games from official eshop, just update from eshop if you really buy the game.

Don´t know where you got this from but i can just tell you it is NOT a verified ban reason, i do this all the time with nsp´s and xci´s and my switch is still not banned.

I'd love to see some concrete evidence one way or another on bans, myself. If you have any of that, please do share it, as this thread I see mentioned quite often doesn't seem to have that information.

I'm not trying to claim that OP is right or wrong, and like others feel that the available information is half baked at best, but if the guide works for him, there's nothing wrong with him sharing his experience and information.

Common sense =/= going online with a pirated copy of a game.

If you want to stay safe, you shouldn't go online with a pirated copy of a game, or on a hacked console period. However your mileage may vary. Nintendo only bans in waves iirc

The only "really concrete" thing we know is that if you start a nsp while you´re online you´ll get banned kinda instantly.
Also, xci´s with deleted certs are a nobrainer allthough they don´t get you banned instantly.

Everything else is pure speculation atm

The ban thread is great in terms of info collecting but everybody has a different story upon their bans while the other half aren't banned doing the same things
that ppl "Claim" got banned for. ex "This guide does not work. I only used SX PRO with XCI. Nothing else and got banned"
Ive had my sx pro for 2 full months updating xci games in ofw playing fortnight and still not banned. But like I said Drax's thread is great for info collecting, but there are ppl who like to troll/don't give all the info or don't understand what they did that caused the ban and mistakenly blame something else.

This! I got exactly the same feeling when i read the ban thread and people are claiming this or that while i do the same things and am still not banned...

Some people just have insane luck. I wish there were some people who are willing to sacrifice their Switches to see what can or can't cause a ban.

The thing is i don´t believe in luck here, Nintendo doesn´t ban by hand there´s a system behind it which has some triggers which we don´t know yet.
Also, my brother and a good friend of mine do all the same things as is do and don´t do the things i won´t do (because i told them what to do and what not), none of us is banned so far we all use sxos, install nsp´s, play xcis, update via ofw (and i even update via wifi while in sxos), only thing not to do is be online while you start a backup you don´t own (i even play a xci of MK8 online, taken from my own cartrige with cert). Also none of us ever deleted our logs.
Another friend forgot to turn on airplane mode before he started a xci game, the moment i saw him in my friendslist playing that game (most people don´t know that even if you don´t go to multiplayer inside the game it still connects to server for highscore list, friends list, etc) i called him, 2-3 weeks after that he had his ban (can´t be sure though that that was the reason but it´s kinda obvious).

Sure, these 4 switches are a very small sample, but that´s the only data i can rely on for sure...
