I have been using the dual boot setup since the a9lh days, still am now. Never had an issue at all. Dont really understand why theres so any people that are against it.

Is it maybe because they dont have a GW card so cant do it themselves?? :)

Flashcards are always more convenient and in the 3ds's case it WAS the only way to play backups for a long time, now theres a free non flashcart way to do things but that dont mean we should just throw the cards in the bin. THEY STILL ARE USEFULL!!
As I said above, there's functionally nothing a Gateway can do that Luma3DS can't do. I've also listed various reasons why using a Gateway is a bad idea. I made the transition from Gateway to Luma3DS a very long time ago, and I've never looked back.

My kids use the dual boot setup on their 3ds's too. We have 4 in our house all use GW and Luma, trust me if there was any issues my kids would find them.

Are there any games that absolutely must be run on a 11.2+ firmware?

As long as you don't use Gateway with your sysNAND after installing B9S, then there's no risk. There's no reason to be worried.

You should backup your Gateway save files before you do anything else. Then you can install B9S and Luma3DS like normal.
How would I convert my .3ds games to .cia I have found a tool but I need to decrypt the game first? I'd prefer to convert my games myself if possible.
