Does factory resetting your device clear the error logs? I imagine so, so what does Nintendo do in those cases? If you go online and have a few legit error logs, then your internet gets turned off (or whatever) and can't connect, then you factory reset, it seems like that would look like the same thing to Nintendo. Unless clearing error logs deletes a file on the FS, in which case you'd just want to make sure you generate a fake legit one (enter incorrect wifi information and try to connect to wifi, etc.) before going back online.

Hi all,
I have a lot ogni confusion.
I have a switch hackable. For now I do only the test.
My current fw is 4.0.1.

If I run a non formed app/game the first time I go online (maybe only to update the fw) I will Ben banned. Right??

If I remain at 4.0.1 all the game that’s require a fw greater than 4.0.1 does not work. Right??

So now is better update now at 5.1.0 and hope someone find a solution for update to upper fw or not??

A possible solution could be reset factory before update??

Thanks a lot

It has been mentioned several times here but I want to share my "how to avoid a ban the impractical way" with those interested:

So before doing any cfw stuff I made a full NAND + Boot0/Boot1 backup with Hekate. Then I deleted my wifi settings and I enabled flight mode. I have since installed AutoRCM and used SX OS, Atmosphere and ReiNX offline and loaded both XCI and NSP files and played them just fine. Tonight I wanted to test if this method is really "ban proof" so I decided to restore my NAND and Boot0/Boot1. I logged back in on my Nintendo account and I am still able to access the eshop and download the games I want and play them.

Tldr: clean nand backup and restore prevents a ban (as has been reported by multiple users already)

In my case the test is considered cfw stuff or for now my switch is ok??

Wait, you are banned but able to use the eShop? That's how I've been checking to see if I have been banned yet.

Did you have a Nintendo account linked in the clean nand backup? I want to do this but I don't know if I should unlink my account before or after the nand backup, I don't wanna lose the account or have it stuck on the Switch if I get banned.

Its been proven that factory resetting does not help stave off a ban whatsoever (plus it would be beyond ironic for Nintendo to include a feature that would help people avoid being banned). Factory reset just makes it LOOK like the console is brand new, not actually MAKES it brand new. As for clearing error logs, as evidenced in the OP, going from having error logs to not having error logs is clearly a big red flag so I am now advising you to clear those logs at your own risk. Logically it makes sense since you would only be able to clear those error logs through hacking and since Nintendo confirmed this to be a ban-worthy cause, it means factory resetting doesn't actually clear the error logs otherwise every person who performs a factory reset should be banned.

I did only the test with my switch for now to know of is exploitable or not.
If I backup the nand now is clean or not??

Most likely yes your NAND will be clean since you didnt actually modify anything

Yes my account was linked in the clean backup

Do you think it is "safe" to play my own copy of MK8 Deluxe that I extracted to an XCI file with the original cert. headers in SX OS?
No one can really say it's safe. It's safer than playing without a cert for sure. Nintendo might not be able to tell that you're playing a backup if you do that but that doesn't mean you couldn't get banned for running the CFW etc.

If you play offline it's not likely that you'll get banned right now but there's no way of telling if that's 100% safe, I haven't been banned doing that yet. Nintendo seem to be holding off though so even if you do only play it offline don't be surprised if you get caught in a ban wave.

Yeah that's why I stay offline atm. Yesterday I restored my clean untouched NAND and I was able to access the Eshop and download some games (i.e. no ban). Now I'm going to go offline again and load SX OS/ReiNX again and play some backup games. Maybe I'll go back to the clean nand when Pokemon is released to play that game online
