I put warnings and disclaimers in the OP. People should research, but they don`t. So it falls upon us to try and divert them from trouble.

If people are fooking their consoles, I feel bad and kinda responsible.

May be best to delete the OP if there are many killed switches doing this...

And yes, some glue can be conductive... Or can become conductive after many heat cycles... In my TV repairing days, many a power board dead due to Samsungs own adhesive they use prior to wave soldering the boards up was going conductive.

I wouldn't remove the thread, mattytrog. If someone is dumb enough to try this without the proper tools or experience, then it's on them. You explicitly give enough warning.

I would strongly advise anyone who is a novice with working with electronics or soldering to simply build themselves a trinket+cell battery rig:

Opening up a $300 USD console without proper experience, skills and tools is just plain idiotic.

Edit (one last thought): if you don't have the skills and insist on having your Switch modded internally, them HIRE SOMEONE with the proper skills, dummy.

I agree with you, dont remove op, people with no soldering skills shouldn't attempt this, I've done a few mods in the past namely xbox jtag, rgh and those were a lot easier compared to this, as in from the very small size of that cap. the rest should be fine for an intermediate solderer. Any plans for any other updates to files (improvements if any?).

Also dont put glue on components or pads. I only put a bit to hold insulated wire down and around trinket.

5) If you power down while in the dock, you need to REMOVE FROM DOCK AND POWER UP or the trinket / ANY MODCHIP cannot communicate and your switch will remain off

Unfortunately that won't fix it. Your trinket will be frozen if you power off with USB attached and will need a physical reset to get it working regardless of whether or not you remove from dock/usb before repowering.

The update actually added more confusion :/

I'm not being rude my friend, but if it is confusing for you, you are probably better off with an external solution.

The trinket send the payload. Nothing more, nothing less. If someone doesn't have it unplugged during start up or shutdown, despite all warnings and instructions, what do you want me to do?

I can't replace the USB controller in the switch so we have to work with what we have.

It's simple. Keep the bloody thing unplugged while booting or shutting down. The trinket powers itself off. That's the whole idea.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but all information is out there.

I cannot replicate your symptoms unless i do something against my own advice that I given in op.

Maybe the internal mod isn't for you.

I don't know, I've made it very simple to understand but you seem to not even want to replicate it for yourself.

So instead of insulting me and behaving like a child on the internet, why don't you acutally *verify* the information first? I've already told you've I've had multiple people confirm this, so im not sure why you are being so dense.

Since you want to get rude, lets break it down very simple for you.

1 - Boot into horizon.
2 - Plug in usb
3 - Hold power, select power off.
4 - Remove usb after powered off
5 - Attempt to boot trinket with usb removed.

It won't boot without a physical reset via button or RST to GND. You claimed in your edit that if you removed usb you would be ok. That is FALSE. You are now perpetuating misinformation to the community. Great job!

The symptoms im describing have literally nothing to do with the installation, and everything to do with post-install behaviors.

You want to pretend something as normal as powering off the switch in the dock is "abnormal", then thats your irrational problem. For everyone else, they should be made aware that their devices can be rendered inoperable by such a simple process as I've explained several times now.

Edit- in an attempt to document, I just repeated the procedure. It again froze my trinket. I couldn't even reset it, had to take the case off. Got it all back and secure, and now the behavior is not repeating. Seems to be hit or miss, but I have had htis happen to me exactly this way at least 10 times so its definitely occuring.

I've had others test and it didn't happen. Others, it did. So there are unknown variables at play.

For a start, I was NOT being rude.

I cannot replicate what you describe.

I`m using SX loader. When I:

1 - Boot into horizon.
2 - Plug in usb
3 - Hold power, select power off.
4 - Remove usb after powered off
5 - Attempt to boot trinket with usb removed.

The trinket will fire up to finish the shutdown routine, resulting in a brief power-on, and then power off. That`s it!

Now, please. In future, before you start running your gums and giving out insults, please read through the thread. There is a search function.

after reading the last couple of pages, this seems a litttle too nice in my standards and i have not even seen the PM's he sent you.

i have not tried the install again since i spoke to you last.

been waiting for parts to give this a 2nd go. i just got enamel 0.3mm wire delivered. i used standard style small gauge wire last time and it was a pain in the ass.
also waiting on a microscope to be delivered so i can see better then i could with a magnifying glass.
im getting too old and just dont see very well, im sure i will have more questions for you once i open up the console again.

but again, just want to say thanks for what you do here, i dont say much but i like to read and i check in daily for updates.
dont shut the OP over a minority of stupid. if they cant research, then its not everyone elses fault. its there own, dont lower yourself because of there stupidity.

i thought i screwed my system the first time, clearly didnt, but i also didnt sit there thinking who i could blame for it. i did it...........

For those interested, I went ahead and built a UF2 for hekate_fspatches_v3.bin via @rajkosto - using the source files in the OP (not sure what method the source files were explicitly for, but I'm using Method 1).
