We have not heard from TX for a while, but don't worry, they back with nice new update to their SX OS, check out v1.4 below:

SX OS v1.4 Announcement
Good day, loyal users!

While we chip away at many different features for SX OS and additions to our SX hardware family we took a break to prepare an update for SX OS with some exciting new functionality and outstanding bug fixes.

Let's have a look at what's new and fixed in this release:
  • Integrated NSP installer
With our last update we introduced the possibility of installing eShop NSP titles. However, this relied on using external tools and wasn't very user friendly. In this release we bring our own integrated NSP installer as part of our menu system. This is the neatest and easiest way of installing NSP titles, enjoy!
  • Integrated homebrew launcher
Launching homebrew used to be done by launching NX HBMenu by holding R when entering the album. While we kept this possibility (mostly for developers), you can now also launch your favorite homebrew directly from our own menu!
  • IR / motion plus issue fixed
A few games (like 1-2-Switch and Resident Evil) were suffering from freezes when enabling the joycon IR camera or motion controls.
  • Allow unsigned NCA
People asked us if we could get rid of the NCA integrity checks, so we did! Custom NCA files, modified NCA files and repackaged NCA files should all work fine now.
  • Display SX OS version in menu
To better distinguish the different versions of SX OS we introduced a small version number display in our menu.
  • LayeredFS fixes for 4.1.0
There were certain issues with 'LayeredFS' for people on firmware 4.1.0. If you use 'LayeredFS' on that specific firmware there's good news for you: these issues have been identified and fixed!
And that's that for this release. We have quite the backlog of feature requests and todo's on our plate, but trust we'll get there!

The ADVANTAGE of using XCI format is that you can see what games you have on the SD card for multiple SD card users. If you have everything as NSP installed then its a crap shoot when you fill multiple SD cards full of them.

Here is a question. What happens to the icon on the dash if the NSP was installed to another SD card than the one currently inserted? Does it show up or anything?
any games you played or installed will show up

Guys, does anyone know how to boot the new CFW without restarting the switch? I don't have my cable on me and I use the laptop to reboot my switch.

So updating from 4.0 to 5.x, anything special I should do to avoid extra red flags? (obviously not be in SX os when I do this, but besides that)

I'm not going to bother with the preventing efuse method. That's not really important to me at this point.

Hi all,
I have a folder called 'Celeste'. Within that folder is a 'exefs' folder and a 'romfs.bin' file.
Will SX OS recognise and install this or do I need to convert to .nsp?
If so, how do you create a .nsp file from what I've got? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.
Bump.
Sorry, hate to be the 'bump' guy, but can anyone assist please?

Perhaps dump your saved data with checkpoint homebrew. If you have a clean nand made before sx os was run, restore that if you were keeping your switch offline the entire time then update.if you don't,well then crack on.Can't take any other precautions really

Was this a layerdfs thing?
Why not save the saved data and get an NSP of Celeste instead?
We havnt gotten a working method of converting anything to usable NSP files yet, hence the recommendation

No, it was downloaded from the 'dark' site. Most of the other eshop titles I got from there were in nsp format. For some reason Celeste was in the format I mentioned above.
Thanks.

Guys, is it safe to install a .nsp using the SX installer and updating it using the OFW after? Or will i get banned? I've only went online via the OFW, to update and play my owned games.. I'm a bit sceptic about installing nsp's, i would not like to get banned

Anything you do online regardless of what happens is unsafe.
NSP files would most likely get you banned

Has anyone been able to update an xci with nsp? Or more specifcally do you need to install the nsp to internal memory for the xci to 'detect/apply' the update?

Even if i delete the game i installed using the .nsp before i go online?, or the installation stays on a log somewhere on the console?

the nsp updates can go on the SD or internal, doesn't matter. All updates work fine against xci's as it's the same as downloading them from nintendo.

I've heard stories that people even update the games using the OFW and don't get banned but I want to be sure

Well not yet atleast...
Can confirm of 3 cases where users were banned for updating .XCI files in OFW. Of note, they were also using AutoRCM. Point is, its happened now so it can happen to others.
