Huh. Somehow I knew about the emulator but I didn't know it was now fully fleshed out for the Old 3DS. I instead waited until I got a Quest 2 before doing VB emulation. In my mind I just wanted to wait, so I could use a proper headset to simulate the sensations of playing an actual Virtual Boy.
I wish the virtual boy for MiSTer would get a bug fix, Warioland is still broken.

@lordelan Dreamcast is now running on MiSTer.
Saw that. Crazy imho. It might never run 100% perfectly/glitch-free but the fact alone that ANYTHING from the DC is running on the MiSTer is quite an achievement. That being said, I don't really care about DC all that much. Funnily enough the MiSTer caps out exactly at what I'm interested in the most for a retro gaming device: PSX/N64/Saturn.

I'm still curious what other things we might see on it with that hybrid approach. I don't mean things above DC and also don't expect PS2 or GC but what I'd really love to see is a more stable port of RetroArch.
There were some (inofficial) releases in the past but they were not that mature and a pain to set up.

Why RetroArch on an FPGA machine, isn't that pointless you ask?
Well, there's still some Libretro cores for which there's no FPGA counterpart yet.
Also there's save states across almost all cores, not only a few like on the MiSTer.
The best part though: While there's already a great bunch of Arcade cores on the MiSTer, MAME and FB Neo on RetroArch definitely still support more games so they are the only way to digitally access those games currently.
And don't forget: A MiSTer is one of the easiest and best ways to output to a CRT so no matter what we have on it, be it FPGA or ARM-based, it's a win on my watch.

I'd love to see DS on MiSTer, even if it's a hybrid approach, or if the ARM alone could handle it using a translation layer (HAL). I'm curious if anyone has tried to run the NDS Retroarch core on MiSTer yet. The Dualshock and Dual sense already act as a mouse/touchpad, so we got touch controls covered. I think Mic and maybe gyro would be difficult to implement or just rely on game patches for those.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about DS all the time although it could make sense, especially with the two potential MiSTer handhelds (Multisystem and Taki) that are coming within the next few years.

Yeah, I'm a bit bummed the game bub is on the weaker side, so cores have to get ported over to it separately, and nothing beyond the GBA really.

Dude, we just got a Hi-Fi music player for MiSTer!

I can connect to my computer's SMB share and stream music, or play from local files on the SD card or a USB storage. This is wicked! (I no longer have to make audio CDs into cue/bin files!)

What a cute little monitor lol.
Got a link for that app?
It's super cool imho to have these media options (along with PLEX and now even Jellyfin) on the MiSTer.

By the way there's finally some good progress on MiSTer handhelds:

The guys from the Multisystem 2 are working on their own one, although they seem to go with a squarish screen for whatever unknown reason (makes no sense given that all TV console cores are better off in 4:3) and even QMTech are now working on a handheld as it seems. No news from Taki meanwhile.

And another great news: The Virtual Boy core is now released as a stable version and is included in the main repo (aka it gets pulled by update all). It even supports real 3D via anaglyph (glasses with red and blue sides) and side-by-side on 3D TVs.
