Hacking Discussion Can you be banned...

Ah, sorry, i get what you mean now.
This one can't really get you banned i would guess, seeing it really doesn't get checked up by Nintendo at all, it's just testing your connection. You can however get banned if you try to run the homebrew app while online, but the DNS thing most likely won't get you banned at all, since Nintendo doesn't really have a way of guessing that the DNS you're using could potentially activate the exploit.

That's good to know, this gives me peace of mind.

If I ever do get banned, i'm going to wait and buy the switch hardware revision. I know nintendo will pull out the Switch SP with foldable screen in the coming future. They always do stuff like that.

True. Seeing that Nintendo's president is considering a sucessor to the 3DS, i can pretty much see similar to the Switch coming anytime soon.

Yeah lol, history tends to repeat itself. I can see it already. 4DS is released. GBA temp forums gets filled with "should I update my firmware" threads. :rofl2:

Is there any reason to unlink the account? I'm still on FW 4.1 and unfortunately if I want to unlink the account, I will have to update. I know I can contact Nintendo to unlink the account but my OCD of having a user I can't delete on the console would probably annoy me lol..
Only un-link the account if there are purchases made on it that are of value to you. Otherwise, you can just throw the account away.

Since I don't want to update the switch, would this work, Unlink online (https://accounts.nintendo.com/login_history) and do a factory reset to delete the user and basically start fresh with an unlink account with SX OS?

I've heard that performing a factory reset actually doesn't un-link the account if you're banned (it probably un-links it only if you aren't banned) but I'm kind of interested to see if also un-linking via their website will work. Haven't heard anyone tried that yet so it might be worth a shot.
