what about the battery issues with AutoRCM? I'm on 5.1.0 right now.
All you have to do is pay attention how you shutdown your console. In my case, I use sleep mode, but when I need to shutdown console I turn it off via SX OS menu, then I press the power button for 14 sec, and all is OK. In the worst case there are fixes for battery de-sync are available (via Hekate for example).

  1. While I doubt Nintendo is monitoring the Wi-Fi network you used when you were banned, it would be wise to un-link the account as soon as possible especially if it has any purchases you wish to keep. However, you cannot un-link an account on a banned console without calling Nintendo to have them un-link it for you. There are reasons they may help you un-link it such as the fact that a banned console with a non-banned account is as useful as a non-banned account alone. They will probably expect you to buy a new Switch to link that account with so you may continue using your non-banned account.
  2. Please submit a full ban report here when you have the chance: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub.508710/

I bought a Switch yesterday and I don't have a USB C cable to send a payload with, is there any other way to test whether or not I have a console with the RCM exploit patched?
The only other ways involve buying the SX Pro Dongle or opening the Switch and installing a trinket.

I’m going to have an sx os by the end up this month or beginning of August and was wondering after I set it up, will using hekate, to make a backup work out, or do I somehow make a backup before I install sx os to my switch, well I don’t think it actually installs but I’m saying should I use the jig at first and I guess my pc with tegrarcmsmash before using the sx os. I was just looking at the switch 101 guide and that’s why I’m mentioning tegrararcmsmash but maybe I could just use the sx os to do the backup even though the license might become part of the backup.

Before any hackz, make a full nand backup by Hekate - CTCaer mod.

I have installed SXOS on my Switch. I have a few questions:

1. What is LayeredFS? I am wondering because it seems that bans mostly correlate to people that have used it.

2. Will you still get banned from playing games that are installed with the NRO format online? I am assuming yes, but I only know that Nintendo has ways of detecting cartridges that are being used online. If you can get banned, how is Nintendo able to tell?

3. I have accidentally connected to the internet a few times in SXOS and haven't been banned (yet) will staying offline in the future curb my possibility of being banned?

4. Will ad-hoc multiplayer work if you have a console ban? I am wondering this because I don't really care about multiplayer that much, the only cases where I really will need it is ad-hoc when Smash Bros. and Pokemon come out which I would use ad hoc for.

Thanks!

  1. LayeredFS swaps game files and is traditionally used for modding. Some people figured out that if you decrypt a Nintendo Switch game and used LayeredFS to swap the appropriate files, you can also use it to play any game you could decrypt. Compatibility depended on save file size and SDK (software development kit for short) used. Bans may have been due to either people using to play backups or the custom error codes it generated whenever it crashed because it was still a WIP when people were using it en-masse
  2. I'm not sure what you mean here. NRO is the file format for homebrews, not Nintendo Switch games. Those file formats are .XCI (cartridge) and .NSP (eShop). Regardless, using a hacked console online always risks a ban regardless of whatever the hack is but certain actions may carry higher risk than others. The easiest way to tell if you are banned is by trying to access the eShop (indicating a console ban or a console and account ban). Nintendo can also ban certificates/headers used to play backups online since scene dumps lack any header/certificate needed to play online and thus require a foreign header/certificate to be injected
  3. Statistically, yes but staying offline is a slightly worse position than being banned. If you are banned, you have access to game and system updates which you won't have normal access to if you stay 100% offline. To remedy this, there are ways to update both your games and system offline but they are not at the user-friendly stage yet
  4. All types of bans so far affect the ability to play games online and access the eShop from the Nintendo Switch. While Nintendo can theoretically limit a console's ability to play locally, there are good reasons why they should not do this. So yes, you can still play games via local multiplayer even if you are banned in any capacity.

Two simple questions

1- When hacking the switch is recommended to unlink the users accounts and creating new ones? I have two accounts with game purchases, etc.

2-I'm going to install SX OS on my nintendo switch and staying offline. Maybe, in a future, I'm going to restoring the console to factory settings and getting legit again. Are there documentated cases of bans doing this?

  1. Un-link if you want to hold onto any purchases/downloads you made with your account in the event that you are banned. You cannot un-link the account if you are banned without calling Nintendo which in of itself is not a guarantee.
  2. Ahem: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub.508710/ To save you some time, use the tab "Statistics for the Lazy" and then go through the spreadsheet
