Sorry if this is on the wrong thread or shouldn't be asked but I've been trying to make sense of these hacks for weeks 3ds hacking was much simpler lol

I have a switch with 3.0 firmware I can see I can install homebrew which is fine. Can I install games like on the 3ds? I no piracy isn't allowed but just a yes or no will do. Also what's the best emulators to install thanks

My friend, you did arrive very late on the 3DS Scene lol... i wish you were there when the first exploits where released.

Can I install games like on the 3ds?
As INSTALL the games, well, that depends, you CANT install Cartridge games, but you can use DevMenu to install some.

Also what's the best emulators to install thanks
Depends on what consoles you wish to emulate i guess.

Very helpful.

There's a ridiculous amount of emulators available. For being so young, the Switch scene is very diverse.

:x
Oh, yeah indeed, still, the best emulators are depending on the consoles he wants to emulate, and how accurate he wants it to be, as also, how pretty the UI he wants it.

As i prefer atm, PSnes over Snes9X on RA, and also pFBA over Retroarch, i never really liked the XMB look or the AIO emulators.

MSET exploit was the first public exploit, and it was easy..........
That was just executing the exploit, as for installing the first CIA it was needed to use it by several trail an error, since holding L to enter with signature patches with FTP connection enable, was not a 100% success rate, also, to install the games, you needed DevMenu or BigBluMenu, which also was/is ilegal.

Not to mention that MSET only worked on 4.1 - 4.5.

On the Switch scene, the JIG method only needs a payload to refer the boot, and thats pretty much it. it does not change with system updated, like the 3ds did.

But Again, saying Scene, refers to anything on the WHOLE scene.

I PERSONALLY, consider that the Switch Scene, for being this young, then its pretty much easier that the 3DS scene.

yes, currently there are two methods, layeredfs which is a BIT complicated for those who are getting on the scene now
and the Team Xecuter Sx Os which is way simpler

Do yourself a favor, and forget about backups until the time is right, don't feed the TX monster for something you can get for free later on. By all means, play retroarch, but forget about backups for now.

With a switch on 3.0 you can pretty much run all the emulators made/ported for the switch, and there are a lot of emulators for a console with such a young scene, check out the switchbru site for the emulators.

As for backups, yes you can run backups, but most don't save, most don't even work, isn't easy to get them running as it requires a lot of trial and error, you can go the route of piracy only software with team excuter's SX OS, but I don't see a reason why you should go this route because backup loading will be free and easy soon, check out the ReiNX cfw which will be free and apparently include a backup loader.

Honestly I've had more trouble putting the switch to rcm mode than actually hacking it. You just need to download the latest sdfiles, payload, nro's, and you're pretty much all set.

Thanks for the replies everyone just 1 more question.

Free games isn't really a big deal to me just needed some clarity. If I was to hack and install homebrew and emulators there would be no issue in playing the latest games via cartridge apart from online play?

SX OS is free for HBL though same as Hekate. There's always a price for piracy early in the console lifespan. Pay for piracy sooner with $$ or later with time. Considering I'd shell out loads of $$ for games I may only play a couple hours on the console and not like, I'd rather pay $45 to give them a try and purchase legitimately if I like them enough.

Unfortunately being on the 3.0.0 bandwagon on my "CFW" switch, there's not many switch games we can play on it right now anyway without updating (HBL and retroarch stuff is fine so I don't confuse OP).
