i have no idea either. Think at this point we need a spy to apply for nintendo to get the info on how the f do they what we do with our consoles. Maybe this "send reports' thing in the settings actually means something and ppl who got banned for homebrews didn't turn it off at some point? cause i got some crashes too while in cfw but no bannana yet
Maybe it let's u disable error reports and then Nintendos like this dude hasn't sent an error in a year let's ban em lol

banning people for homebrew is stupid.
esp when people have auto reporting turned off.

these people need to get a class action against nintendo for privacy invasion because they're not supposed to collect information that people don't want to send to them. and also homebrew isn't illegal.

anyone who wants to say eula lets them, go to school. eula mean shit just like how nintendo warranty that says it;s void if you use a screen protector means shit. companies can write that they own your life in their EULA or TOS but it means squat

I know what you’re saying but I can guarantee because it’s Nintendo’s console, they can bulk shit a reason for that law suit to go no where. That’s where we lose the ball game it’s their console.

thats not how the law works. if what you said is correct then jailbreaking the iphone would be illegal

I've been using Hekate a few times to try some homebrew(mostly pFBA) and had the error reporting activated for some time until I deactivated it. I'm not banned until now. I always used different SD-Cards for OFW and CFW. Maybe they are looking for "forbidden" files like HBL on the SD-Card. My other guess is that they are checking for edited save files or game files. I've never touched a system file but I know a lot of you did. But who knows if I'm going to be banned in the next wave. Would be a shame because I uses this account since the Wii(tried all the hacks the day they were released and no ban) and I bought a lot of games for Wii 3DS WiiU and Switch with it. I knew the risk but underestimated Nintys aggressiveness.

Edit: What about the autoRCM? Can they check this sector? I would if I was Ninty.

Technically, only the software, services and patents are theirs. We bought the hardware, therefore it's ours to do with what we wish.

However TOS says we can't run unauthorized software and can be banned if caught. Again, we're talking about software. The only thing they can really do with hardware is monitor it to see if it's modified to circumvent their security(anti-piracy measures).

They tried, and failed. Someone would have to take them to court and win.
Now not everyone here is Jay(saurik) and can win a big case against a big company.

The vast majority of regular homebrewers haven't been banned. You can confirm this by checking with ReSwitched or other more savory parts of the internet where piracy isn't of interest.

All but 3? people banned were using SX OS or LFS, with mismatching headers, pirated game updates, and so on.
But were they doing that while on line or just because something was logged and were banned later when they used the wifi for something else?

Could connecting through a VPN help in any way? I need to use a VPN to get better NAT for online play with my legit carts, and kept the system in airplane mode while on switchblade cfw. No ban so far

Not in any particularly useful way.

By hacking the system you are making it perform in odd ways and leaving traces of that.
Nintendo detects this by means we don't at present know.
The system then sends its unique number to the Nintendo servers and they say OK that unique number is banned.

A VPN just means they don't know your home IP. No difference as far as it sending the unique number nor them detecting the mod in the first place.

There are a handful of things it might sort of help with, I certainly would not be surprised to see someone banned when using a VPN, would not suggest it as part of a counter banning setup and generally don't see the point outside of things like you describe where it helps if your ISP are being a bunch of idiots.

The reason you can dodge a ban on forums or something is because they use said home IP and block connections from that. A VPN then makes it look like you are connecting from another location and thus not the home IP they have banned.

The bans seem to be random, and I don't think there's a common thread so far. I've been using SX Pro on airplane mode, and have booted into OFW to update a couple of games. No emulators, no clearing logs, no nsp installs or any kind of homebrew. Not banned yet, but I'm sure it's incoming.

I haven't been staying to up-to-date on the whole banning threads, but, from what I have read, it seems like most of the people getting banned have cleared logs at some point. I just got my SXpro in a few days ago and have booted into the CFW and have just been letting the switch sleep so I don't have to reuse the jig all the time. Granted, I haven't played any downloaded games (.xci), used the autoRCM ( or whatever it's called) feature or used any Homebrew I have yet to be banned. I plan on doing my testing over the next couple of weeks just to kind of determine how I get banned if I ever do.

This next week or two I am just gonna keep my switch booted into the SXpro CFW (with internet on) with just putting it into sleep and see what happens. I might start a thread later to track my progress if it proves useful. It would be nice if we had a few people, who didn't care about being banned, to do just one aspect of "hacking" on their switch and actually get some real progress done on what is really getting our switches banned.

Edit: if there are a few people who see this and are willing to get together and test out certain aspects of "hacking" on the switch I am more than willing to collaborate and collect all the data into one thread if anyone thinks it would help the scene

First off, you trying to be rude just made you look stupid. Secondly, I am already aware of that sticky, but, considering your not smart enough to read into what I was saying and just trying to be an ass, that thread is just an gaggle fuck of too many variables and way to much information to sort through as every swinging dick reports all the information required or the different circumstances they remember going through. Ultimately, that thread could be flawed as people misreport or forget to report certain relevant information. What I was suggesting was merely a different, maybe even simpler, way of reaching the same goal as there is nothing wrong with having two related sources of information, especially, if one is coming from a controlled group while the other is just wildly filled with randomly submitted information.

This place has really gone downhill in terms of the quality of it's members. Here I am just trying to do my part in helping out the the whole community and all I get is some random trolling jackass whose first thought was to try and correct me because he/she feels somehow their ignorant responses promote their superiority on this forumn.
