Even patching out online checks doesn't guarantee this works unless you somehow have Nintendo's key.

Ah. I see. (Not that it matters, i don’t even have SX OS or intention of piracy). How would one obtain a cert though?

Wow, so I tested this with recovering an eShop game (Fast RMX) I couldn't access cos I'm now banned, and it works a treat. Thanks for this. I realise things can change in the future, but being able to access the games I previously bought from the eShop and game updates were the only things I was really worried about.

It cannot be played if you don't own it. All this is asking for is a permanent CDN ban.
At the moment, until checking is patched out (signature patching).

If it can be patched (server side, dedicated hardware encryption (like carts)) is the real question.

You don't need to use this to download games you own. Just click on then in your home menu.

This tool is more likely to cause you to lose full CDN access, and you don't need to use it in your case.

It wasn't showing in my home menu

@V-Temp I tried to find evidence that Scires and/or Shiny had full CDN access revoked but came up empty. Obviously, the error codes are identical but how could a user tell if they had their full rights revoked (outside of the obvious downloading from eXhop)?

These codes are not going to vary, but the severity of the backend barring will.

Shiny talked about it on Twitter, Scires on discord. Beyond that there have been warnings about abusing these direct download channels.

Absolutely nothing prevents them from preventing a cert from having any access. So abusing this as it works for people who actually need to download games they own, is a good way to make sure no one can get to use it soon enough.

We see that they react fast to these things. If a bunch of banned certs start asking to download the eshop, what do you think they'll do? Ignore it?

I'm asking for evidence that they have done so because according to you, they fully revoked it for the both of them. No one can say what Nintendo is fully capable of unless you work for them and are closely involved in this process. While they have stepped up security for the Switch, they never stepped it up for previous consoles. The fact that they still allow foreign headers to be used for 3DS games is a testament to that. Again, I'm not saying that this is out of the scope of Nintendo, but unless there's evidence to support that, it seems like fear of the unknown. But if you proof, then we can agree to not use eXhop anymore if they do have the capacity to fully ban certificates.

I haven't been able to test it, but I will if none else has been able so far.

If we download a game that is free-to-play (Pokémon Quest for example), will it work?

I just want to download some demos and free-to-play games while on 4.1.

Also. If only downloading demos and actual free content, this shouldn't lead to a ban, right? I know. Probably none knows, since everything is still so new. But still wanted to ask.

Using eXhop isn't safe at all and can probably lead to a ban later on. I wouldn't recommend you to use this if it isn't really necessary.

Alright then.

I can only guess it's due to a not so valid request being done from eXhop to the CDN server. If it was a fully valid request, it shouldn't be identifiable from an actual eShop request (at least when downloading free content like demos and free-to-play games).

When downloading priced games, of course it will never be a perfectly valid request, since you didn't get the cert you should get when you buy it.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
