The Minecraft Update we’ve been waiting for since E3 2017 is out Now! You can connect with Xbox, Mobile PC and VR! (No PS4 what a surprise) If you already own a digital copy of Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition then this new version of free to download. You get a totally different game just called Minecraft: See below.
Upon first booting this version you are prompted to sign in with your Microsoft acount by going to this website: https://aka.ms/remoteconnectand typing in the code on your Nintendo switch. Once done you can either sign in or make your own acount.

Once signed in you can enjoy the wonderful features like cross play, bedrock edition gameplay, the store, All the video setting like render and chunk distance. You also now have achievements!
For servers it says coming soon.

When it says servers are coming soon does that mean no access to official Realms servers currently too, or are we just talking 3rd party servers like Mineplex ?

I believe that you’ll be able to go to any server you type in and there will be those server in that menu
 
That's pretty cool of Microsoft! They could have chosen not to publish it on their biggest competition, but they did. They even took it a step further and allowed cross-platform play. This is a very different company than the one I remember, but in a good way.

True, but it's also not that surprising considering the weakened position they're in as far as hardware sales go. If they released all the IPs they have licenses for only on XB1, their gaming division would be in the red in no time.

Yeah that's true too. Of course they wouldn't do it without something to gain, but even during the 360 era, they weren't too keen on any sort of cross-platform play, so it's still awesome to see something like this.

has anyone gotten cross play (Mobile/Win10/Xbone) to Connect to a switch host? theres been a few on the MC Reddit and Switch Reddit commenting theres mixed results
 
Been playing on my switch with family on xbone and pc all 3 same time, no problems. Link microsoft account on switch, search friend join game. Pissed realms is not up yet though. and PE on Android is 1.4.4, PC and xbone 1.4.2, while switch is 1.4.1.
