It's wise to do a NandMin backup before updating. I like HourGlass9 for doing my backups.
That said, by all accounts, the update causes no issues for B9S/A9LH users.

I assume if I have a custom system menu already, like before, this new update won't hurt it?
It will be removed, unless you changed your custom Home's title version to something higher than 11.7's Home... but of course you can reinstall it later

Hello everyone I need help. I just used hbl with oot3dhax method and when I launch hbl I go back to home menu with message "an error has occurred". Am I supposed to change my Zelda save or something else on my sd card?

For me [I'm on a Luma3DS-hacked Old 3DS XL], I can't update to 11.7.0 under most circumstances. If I try to boot from EmuNAND [I even checked "Autoboot EmuNAND"], it says "Sys 11.6.0-39U" and the "Unable to update." error occurs. If I used Google's update servers, no luck, and same error. There isn't any available dump of the 11.7 update data. And last, it fails at 3% and then forces you to restart, or make you turn off the power. Is there any possible way to update to 11.7 from my end?

EDIT: I also tried restoring my original Home Menu. Nothing changed.

Autoboot EmuNAND will not boot EmuNAND if you never set one up on your card. It will automatically default booting to SysNAND. Uncheck that option and try updating without an SD card present.

Another possibility why you can't update is that Nintendo server been acting up today. I've notice their eShop working intermittently.

This could be explained due to mass 3DS updaters (or whatever with teh Switch, dunno). Try updating another hour. A good time is around 4am EST when the sun is over the Pacific Ocean and everyone's asleep.

The Luma3DS firm is in the root of my SD card. It would seem risky to do it without an SD card, otherwise it would do a power-cycle. But what I would try is clearing photos from my 3DS console and copying the Luma3DS firm to the CTRNAND.

The ctrnand part should of been done long ago. Its a step thats on the guide and its there for good reason.

I thought it wasn't needed, so I skipped it. I'll run it and tell the results of the attempted SysNAND update afterward.

Result: NOPE. No update.

EDIT: Even without the SD card. Nothing.

Your 3DS now has ctrnand installed, boots to HOME Menu without SD card, and wont update to v11.7, eh? Run down to the closest buddy, Starbucks, or what the canadian equivalent to free wifi and try updating there. Gotta rule out bad Internet.

Edit - Make sure the battery got some juice and to bring your charger.

My WiFi is a strong full-ping Shaw Internet router. And the battery is charged well.

STICKERHAX CONFIRMED WORKING! On New3DS 11.7.0.40 U, at least.

Here's the thing: sploit-installer-stickerhax isn't downloading the right payload - at least, not yet. It's kind of obvious, really; if you look at the top of the "home menu ropbin is ready" screen (before it crashes back to the Home menu), you'll see a 2017 date.

Here's what you do:

-If you haven't already, run sploit-installer-stickerhax (included with the Homebrew starter kit).
-Run JKSM. (I use the version from the GBAtemp thread.) Export the save data from your sploited Paper Mario: Sticker Star cart.
-This should get you four files: payload.bin, pm4_0.bin, pm4_1.bin, and pm4_2.bin.
-Go to https://smealum.github.io/3ds/ and scroll down to "Otherapp/ropbin payloads". Specify "New 11.7.0-40 U" and click "Download otherapp".
-You'll be prompted to download N3DS_U_29697_usa_9221.bin. Download this file and rename this file to payload.bin.
-Overwrite the payload.bin that JKSM produced earlier with your new payload.bin.
-Run JKSM and import the save data again.

That's it! God is in his Decalburg, all's right with the world.

This thread is unnecessary. There’s an exploit for 11.7 coming that will allow anyone to install CFW for free. You should add that to OP.

Most threads I see about here are utterly useless. Quite frankly there are some ppl out there that dont wanna touch cfw for who the hell knows what kind of messed up reason they have.
