Greetings GBA - I just purchased a ps4 and out of the box it has firmware 5.07 - I see from google that 5.0 is hackable, but is 5.07?

And I do not see a sticky noob guide on hacking, can someone point me to one?

YES! My guide covers this!

However you cannot upgrade the hdd as there is no recovery pup.

I have the 1TB harddrive - when you say upgrade do you mean, not use an external?

Looking at your guide, it shows "If you have a PS4 above 5.05 FW you are out of luck for now...." - but 5.07 is hackable with same instructions?

Can I do this on a Linux machine, or must it be performed on a windows machine?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

5.07 is exploitable, but the firmware has no recovery file for HDD upgrade.

What do you mean by the firmware has no recovery file for HDD upgrade? Can you explain?

To upgrade the HDD you needs a recovery file to reinstall os, 5.07 doesn't have one. Only reason 5.07 is exploitable is because 5.05 and 5.07 have the pretty much the same kernel

Last question and I think I am all set to start. Since I am already on 5.07 - I only need to get the self-host exploit, correct?

You can either use Al-Azif DNS or self host it yourself on a pc, Raspberry pi or wifi usb like sandisk Connect or esp-8266 board. Alternate solution is to offline Cache.

Absolutely, just host however you want and enjoy.

Also going back: yes you can use up to 8TB external hdd’s no problem on 5.07.

Updated OP and added 5.07 line under the read me first section.

I know with the XBOX 360 you can do a DEMON - which was DUAL NAND, retail and hack.

Is there something similar that you can do with a PS4?
