Hey, with game updates, can't you just grab the update from someone elses console, there is a option when you press plus on a game you own on your switch to get the update from another console.

Yes, but you need a friend with the same game.

Just a question. I have come here a long long while, and followed the scene back when .cia files just began to become popular. But this brings a question.

Before the .cia files, we used flash carts to emulate roms as physical game cards, but this inevitably caused massive banwaves due to unique headers on the game carts. Nintendo just saw the same headers being used by so many, and even just checked the roms to find the headers and simply ban the people using said headers.

My thought is: if thst was implemented on the 3DS... what are the odds that it is also on the switch? Do we know if headers or a similar unique cart identification system is in use? Does the switch log in any way whst cart is used with what unique identifier?

I'm just curious and wondering if another massive set of banwaves will occur when Nintendo sees hundreds of people all over using the same exact cart, or if even when offline, if sometime down the road, you go online, if they can see that you at some point used that same exact pirated unique cart.

Also, if the switch is newer, perhaps is there a newer identifier other than a simple header, can we change those? What are our options to avoid band and/or keep ourselves seemingly usual and unique?

I'm sure the sudden influx of online activity with a known hack out will put Nintendo on edge, and they will be actively viewing us and the community.

You need to give a trophy like a medal of honour to these banned members or they will never come forward. Most will be too embarrassed at their stupidity to let you know how they were banned.

Btw, you don't need to ask if they went online. If they weren't they wouldnt be banned.

Lmao
If you don’t understand something just keep quite
I said if they where connected to internet when they where doing their things
So we can see if there is logs really matter

It's quiet, not quite.

I'll write out your questions properly:

- When were you banned?
- What did you do?
- Were you connected to internet? (Of course you were :rofl2:)
- Post a picture of the error
- Provide more details (optional)

Is the switch cart cert like the private header from 3ds carts? Of so, then we can use a single cert to any game backups we have.

You still don’t understand
Just let it go, you are just making yourself look retard

Fuck the bans, I accept a ban over increased/decreased functionality . Seems that SoonTM, I will have way more functionality than the device permitts . Im too SX'y for my shirt.!

No, they fixed that by using certs unique by game so, each cert works with one and only one game... That's also how they can tell a cart has redeemed the rewards points or not.

NIntendo's pay to play online thing may cause Ninty to take it easy on pirates with temporary bans because it is a way to make money off pirates with legit copies for online play only. Although, i'm not sure what percentage of players are pirates. I think in these early months its probably between 0,1% and 0,5%, so maybe not worth it for Ninty to put effort in.

This thread may be useful in the future. Just as a heads up, I would add a disclaimer that there is no way to unban your Switch (currently). Although you can theoretically use another console unique certificate from an unbanned Switch, you would still need a way to transplant it into the banned Switch.

Well Draxzelex.. we still don’t know if it’s only the certificate that is banned :/

True, and with those who were banned by Splatoon, they could still access the eShop while Scires and Shiny could not so there could even be different bans depending on the user's actions.

Do you think there will be temporary bans? With the coming of the paid online system

I've never heard of Nintendo issuing temporary bans. As it is, bans from Nintendo are rare in of itself. If they found you, say, dumping your save or running an emulator, idealistically a temporary ban would make sense. The problem is these bans are issued based on violating their terms of service so they have all the leeway when deciding the type of ban and the length.

I think if Nintendo really wants, he can definitely detect and shut down anyone doing something fishy with their Switch.

Although, I'd like to make one point: The online services will stop being free in September, which means that if you want to play online you have to pay a monthly/yearly fee.

The owner of a SX Pro might use it for several purposes and even if he pirates a couple of games, he might still download others legitimately from the store, especially those which are really cheap like 6-7$.

By banning an account, you're 100% sure this guy won't buy *anything ever again* from you and he's not going to give any kind of revenue (no online, so you can't subscribe).

Is Nintendo really going to shoot himself in the foot while he could still make a profit from people pirating their game by making them pay a yearly fee for the online experience?

We'll see.
