Hello all i am very new to the Nintendo Switch so please be nice.
I have a few .xci games and have noticed newer versions released.
Rather then obtain the entire game again is there a way the updates or DLC can be obtained separately and added to the older version?
If anyone knows could they please explain step by step.

Thanks

you can update regularly however you risk being banned.

I dont think so, XCI files contain a NCA folder called "updates" though, so perhaps the updates and DLC are baked in?

Can we just download the new update then inject into the current xci file?
i'm not sure however anytime you go online with a hacked console you risk being banned. Unless somebody manages to dump the update then that might be a solution in the future.

Would like to know. Like download update, inject into xci file and enjoy. I wonder once Executor SX Pro is released will the bans start.

Someone on reddit said that if you get banned you still can receive games updates and firmware updates. Don't know if you can receive even dlcs(paid or free), and what about this is actually true. But if you're not interested in online play, i would just connect and use the console for offline playing and connect to internet for updates, not caring sbout the ban.

While there are now dumps that seem to carry game updates with them, there are no currently available public tools that we can use to install updates.

Always grab the latest.
Some of the early rips were not xci format.
I would assume later release versions of a same game would include the latest game updates included but cant confirm this.

They do, but you can't really check this from a dump unless whoever dumps it notes it. On the cartridge you can tell. There's a set of 3 digits that should tell you what cart revision it is.

Nothing to explain lol. We can already download things from Nintendo CDN, like game update, to a PC. We just have to find a way to install it on the switch and it's done.

It's SX job if you buy SX OS.

Last edited by Thetoto,
SX OS allows you to update your games straight from your switch, just like any other legit cartridge would.

Yeah, we know that. Since backups behave like cartridges, it's obvious that we can online-update.

But we are talking about other ways to update here.
Using XS OS online brings a high ban risk.

Pretty sure just requesting a game update from the CDN is not gonna cause a ban anytime soon.
