Hello everyone, not a lot of people here cover Skyrim Saves, So I'm gonna make a simple tutorial. I will be covering both editing your saves and creating a save from an existing Skyrim save.

Note: Skyrim saves are compatible for all platforms, that includes PC compatible to Switch and vice versa.

**IMPORTANT**

You must have a copy of Skyrim Special Edition for PC in order to edit your saves, there are no known save editors for switch and/or PC. You can buy the game or...you can get it from somewhere.
Also I'm am not responsible for any corrupt save errors. Make sure you backup your save games before editing them.

Grabbing your saves
Grabbing saves are simple, you need either Checkpoint or EdiZon, then extract your saves to your SD CARD.

Editing Skyrim Saves

Like I said you need Skyrim Special Edition for PC, this does not work with Skyrim Legendary Edition.

  1. First of all you will see 2 or 3 files, what's important is that you find your "Saves" folder where all your saves are. There will probably be a lot, but you must find your save with the date. It Should be a .sav0 extension file. If you don't see a .sav0 extension (assuming you are using windows 10) in Windows Explorer find "View" and check "File name extensions".
  2. Copy said .sav0 file to your Skyrim Saves on PC. It's Located in C:\Users\user\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Saves.
  3. Rename the .sav0 file to a .ess file.
  4. Launch Skyrim Special Edition
  5. Load your save game and you'll get a save warning, telling you that "Hyrule.esm is missing", once you see that warning you know, you're on the right track.
  6. Edit your save with console commands! Go absolute nuts on how you want to edit your save. Here is my example.
  7. After editing, save your game by overwriting the same file (Remember to backup your save, in case anything goes bad)
  8. Once you overwrite the saved game, go back to your save games in Skyrim PC and rename the .ess to .sav0
  9. Copy the modified save and the .sav1 file associated with your save to your switch and injected back. if you are using checkpoint, create a new folder and within that new folder, put a new folder named "Saves".
  10. Inject it back to your switch and load the game.

Adding an existing save to Skyrim Switch (advance)

Let's say you want to add a save from an old Skyrim save you have on your computer. These saves work even from the original version of Skyrim! To do this, it's not as simple as renaming .ess to .sav0, you need to create a .sav1 file associated with the .sav0. I'll show you how.

  1. Grab the save file you want to put in your switch.
  2. Here is the "advanced" part, you need to rename it to the appropriate Skyrim save name for the switch or else you get a corrupted save/error when launching the game. You must also create a .sav1 file too. I made a little guide here.
  3. After you've made those saves, copy both your ".sav0" and ".sav1" files to your SD CARD, where your save extractor is.
  4. Inject and play!

Also, if you don't have Skyrim Special Edition for PC, just PM me and I'll see what I can do to edit your save.

Apologize if I did not get you guys, I won't be doing requests as often anymore. I would recommend modding your Skyrim if you do not have Skyrim SE on your PC.

Without going through all the steps can you tell me if this would let me max out carry weight? Is it tied to armor editing or an easy global value?

There is a global value= "player.modav carryweight x" where "x"= amount of carry weight. You can edit this by going into console via PC and edit your save there.

Yeah sure, just ask me what is it you want me to edit and I'll do what I can.

Hey, Would you be able to make a few changes to my save? I can't send PMs yet, It's mostly just fixing a few stupid glitches that happened (Blood on the Ice wont trigger). Let me know. Thanks!

I'll feel bad for giving you a long list..:
- Start at Helgen (Pre Character Creation)
- Level 81
- All Skills 100
- 250 Perk Points (No points spent)
- 1000 Magicka, 300 Health, and 300 Stamina
- All Locations Revealed, but Black/Undiscovered (I found this: "Maybe what you would want is using the console command tmm 1,0,0. This should reveal all undiscovered locations on the world map, but leave them greyed-out so you would still have to travel to them directly (no fast travel).").
- All Vampire Lord + Werewolf Perks Unlocked

Optional (You don't have to do these, I wouldn't even know how to myself):
- Skaal Amulet w/ +200% Fortify Destruction Magic & +200% Fortify Restoration Magic
- Shiv w/ Chaos Damage (25 points of damage) and Dwarven Black Bow of Fate Enchantment (25 points of damage)
- I wonder if importing an OG Skyrim save into Skyrim SE and saving will allow it to be able to be imported into the Switch version, I always wanted Dovahgolt (v4.0). If you can, could you please see if it would work? I am dying to have Dovahgolt back.

The main list is possible via an in-game console script.

For example, if you have Skyrim on the PC - save this script as a .txt file in your root Skyrim PC folder and call it whatever you want (for example "commands.txt". In-game open the console and type "bat commands" and it'll execute the commands in the file.

Code:
coc HelgenExterior; Start at Helgen (Pre Character Creation)

player.setlevel 81; Level 81

player.setav destruction 100; All Skills 100
player.setav restoration 100
player.setav conjuration 100
player.setav alteration 100
player.setav illusion 100
player.setav heavyarmor 100
player.setav lightarmor 100
player.setav block 100
player.setav onehanded 100
player.setav twohanded 100
player.setav marksman 100
player.setav enchanting 100
player.setav smithing 100
player.setav alchemy 100
player.setav lockpicking 100
player.setav pickpocket 100
player.setav sneak 100
player.setav speechcraft 100

player.setav magicka 1000; 1000 Magicka, 300 Health, and 300 Stamina

player.setav health 300
player.setav stamina 300

tmm 1,0,0; All Locations Revealed, but Black/Undiscovered

player.addperk XX0059A4; All Werewolf Perks Unlocked - REPLACE XX WITH THE LOAD ORDER NUMBER!!!! (i.e if it's 3rd, use 03....)
player.addperk XX007A3F
player.addperk XX011CFA
player.addperk XX011CFB
player.addperk XX0059A5
player.addperk XX0059A7
player.addperk XX0059A6
player.addperk XX0059A8
player.addperk XX0059A9
player.addperk XX0059AA
player.addperk XX0059AB

player.addperk XX005998; All Vampire Lord Perks Unlocked
player.addperk XX00599A
player.addperk XX016908
player.addperk XX008A70
player.addperk XX00599B
player.addperk XX00599C
player.addperk XX00599E
player.addperk XX005994
player.addperk XX005995
player.addperk XX005996
player.addperk XX005997

There's no way to set your perk points, so you've got 2 choices: add all perks via the console or run a bunch of "gain EXP" commands to gain levels (both of which are found here).

If you don't - well, someone who has the PC version of Skyrim can just use this script for you!

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Step 6. How? With what? Funny you make a tutorial on how to edit saves, then explain everything BUT.

Open the extracted Switch save using Skyrim Special Edition on Steam (it's pretty cheap during sales. Definitely worth picking up for the mod support alone!) and use the console commands like I put in this merged post under the spoiler tag. Save the save and re-inject it into the Switch and carry on playing.

Ah, I see. I don't own the PC release so I never got to find that part out. I edited the post.

Export and edit using console commands on PC or if there's an editor...use that.

phew...I went through everything I can to get virtually the main stuff you need, I was able to get the most of the stuff you wanted, but couldn't get dovahgolt because I believe that's for Xbox 360...idk. But here is the save you ordered.
Also, like I mentioned in the tutorial, you will get weird save names, for this one you'll get " x .E" I'm starting to figure out that the SaveNames have a algorithmic code to name a save. Haven't found out how to decipher it or how to translate it. But here's the save. BTW I couldn't get a an enchanted chaos shiv, but only gave you the shiv and a chaos enchanted weapon so that you can add it later.

I also wanted to add that, I gave you 250 perk points, and none of them are spent to any perks. Had to edit the save using mods.

Pistakilla, would you be able to do mine?

Here's what I'm trying to de:

1. Max level to 100
2. Max out all perk trees or add perk points?
3. Fix Blood on the Ice, I killed Nilsine which caused Tova to kill her self and now I can't initiate the quest.
4. Fix Aela's carry weight is messed up, probably the invisible bow glitch
5. Fix Sofie's carry weight, I adopted her and she has that glitch where she's carrying too many baskets.

I don't have Skyrim for PC.

Okay just took a look at your save, and it appears most of the things you mentioned are fixed i believe. I couldn't really find any errors or bug/glitches from my experience in this save. It could be because I have the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch installed and fixes everything as soon as I load the game. So I'll give you what I see and if you do manage to see any errors after the new save I make, just let me know.

I also researched a lot of the quest info and couldn't really see how it's glitchy, since Tova is dead all you can do is revert the save before you started the quest where you need to kill Tova, that's the only solution i can give you.
Overall I did the best I can to fix most of the bugs in game.

You're the man, everything you did worked perfectly! Thank you!

Regarding the stupid Blood on the Ice quest, I can't revert because I killed Nilsine at maybe 20 hours so I'd lose pretty much my entire game. The biggest reason I'm looking to fix it is to be able to buy Hjerim. I'm locked out of that because of the quest. I thought I had read that console commands could bring Tova back or maybe trigger the quest, but after reading everything again, I guess that could create problems. The notes on the Unofficial patch say it fixes that quest but I haven't figured out how to get it to trigger. I'll have to spend some time trying it tomorrow.

is there any way to trigger Hjerim being available for sale?

Well you're gonna be happy, yes there is a fix via console commands I actually did not had time to find it, but I fixed it. Hjerim has been purchased, all decorations have been bought (including the "clean living room", part of the Blood on the Ice Quest). Really that's it, just a few console commands. Here you go :)

Edit: I didn't see this but there is a buggy mess with the investigate thing where your bed is, if you want I can fix it for you. So in the mean time have that your beloved house!

The save you made me is great and all, but I started to notice that vendors are not selling spells above the apprentice level. I guess that could be because I didn't level up one at a time to reach the requirements for the spells to become available. Could you please edit the save a little bit if you have the time? Thanks again.

My wishlist for this 'update' to it would be:
- All spells learned (hope it won't be too much work >.<)
- Stats changed to: 500 Magicka, 300 Health, 300 Stamina (half the Magicka from before)
- Replace Skaal Amulet with: Skaal Amulet w/ +1000% Magicka Regeneration & +250% Stamina Regen Enchantments

Optional:
- Remove old Skaal Amulet, Dwarven Black Bow of Fate, and Chaos Damage Weapon (realized I can live without them for now :P)
- Add x50 of each: Abecean Longfin, Cyrodilic Spadetail, and Salt Pile (for the restoration loop lol I wanna experiment later on in the game)
