Hey guys. I've been out of the loop for a number of years, and would like to update my ancient 3ds with the current best cfw (Which i've read is something called Luma). I haven't been around since RxTools was new. Which is currently what my system is running. I've basically forgotten everything and barely understand terminology anymore. There is an abundance of info, but its all a bit overwhelming, honestly.

So.. could anyone work with someone who needs babysteps? I would really appreciate it.

Hey, guys. So I've noticed that I have very little free space on my SD card. Likely to loading the CIA games I have currently on the unit. But they aren't viewable on the actual SD card. Would removing the RXfolder get rid of those too? I honestly don't care about the games at all. Also, there are RX dat files on the root of the SD. Outside of the rx folder.

I appreciate all the replies, guys. I'll have to do all this a bit later tonight. Ran out of PC time. I'll be back soon. Thank you!

You should follow this guide to migrate to Luma3DS and B9S: https://3ds.hacks.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)

If you're using menuhax to load rxTools, then following this guide up to Step 14 should cause you to automatically launch the Homebrew Launcher when you power on your 3DS. Once you do this, you can launch SafeB9SInstaller and skip to Section II of this guide: https://3ds.hacks.guide/installing-boot9strap-(homebrew-launcher)

When you make it to the Finalizing Setup guide, you need to follow the optional emuNAND migration guide.

him skipping the previous step would skip putting the safehaxpayload, safeb9sinstaller, and boot9strap.firm on his sd which would just give him an error

No, that all comes well before Step 14, at the beginning of the guide.
im saying if he skipped to the installing boot9strap homebrew launcher guide he would have skipped the step of actually putting the boot9strap files on his sd card its listed in the step before

He needs to do Steps 1-14 in the first guide before he does anything else. He's not going to skip putting any files onto his SD card.

Lots of info here. I really appreciate it. Do you guys know of a way to save the save file of a specific title? I know I said I didn't care. But there is one game I'd like to keep my file of. Also, I don't think I have my original sysnand.bin file that I created when I first installed rxtools. Will this be a problem?

So! I folowed the guide and got everything setup!

The downside is, I still left all my rxtools stuff on there just in case. I had a bunch of cia games that are now invisible to me on both the system and in file explorer. So about 20gb in data that I can't use.

If I formatted, I'd have to setup luma all over again. Any advice guys?

You dont need the rxtools stuff and if you ever reformat the system, you DONT need to reinstall luma. Its a common misconception. All you would need to do is follow the finalizing set up page to get FBI and the apps back to your console.
