I don't believe so. When we connect the Switch online, the data is still being sent to Nintendo live and its probably being saved as well. So even if we wipe the data, the moment our console is connected while doing some sort of hack, Nintendo is gathering information. This payload is useful for those who want to make a clean slate prior to going online and do no more hacks after the fact.
Sorry, may be a bit of a noob question but i've not even hacked my switch yet as i'm currently awaiting a jig. However, where you state 'the moment our console is connected while doing some sort of hack' are you meaning if i were to use HBL and then go on MK8D to stream (i own the cart for this) then it would lead to a possibility of being banned? Sorry if this has been asked before!

Are you sure your entering RCM? (Hold vol + while pressing power) what are you using to launch a payload?

I can't get to the point to launch a payload (though I'm trying to use TegraRcmSmash) I get to the point of entering my jig, holding power and Vol+, the screen stays black, I plug my usb type-c cord into my pc and the other end into the switch and a battery icon pops up in the corner for a second and the switch just turns on normally.

Update!- Ok so I went from using a jig to the tinfoil way, shorting pin 9 and 10. Could boot into RCM and plug in my usb. I know it's in rcm, TegraRcmSmashGui shows it is and it shows up as APX under device manager. Now whenever I try to upload the payload (newest hetake with sleep working) and it just hangs.

"TegraRcmSmash (32bit) 1.2.0-2 by rajkosto

The Switch is designed to send all sorts of data to Nintendo about how the Switch is running. Running something like the homebrew launcher which isn't an authorized piece of software by Nintendo can potentially be saved in the form of data that is sent to Nintendo. The moment it is collected online, the data is being upstreamed to Nintendo. That's why even if you clear all of the reports from your Switch, if you do something else unauthorized then connect online, it will be sent to Nintendo.

Hello guys!

I'm getting my own Switch today, is there anything I should be wary of? I believe updating to 5.1.0 shouldn't be a problem so I can grab most of the stuff from eshop that I want and set up my profile. Then probably the best would be to remove wifi configuration from Switch and stay there for awhile?

(I'm grabbing MK8D too so it will probably update console by itself as long as it works the same way as 3ds did, but I dunno which version it'll end up with?)

Will I be able to softmod with 5.1.0 and install CFW let's say in a couple of months? Shall I do otherwise?

Thanks in advance!

You can install cfw on any firmware. You should get the switch asap, because nintendo's releasing another version of the switch that fixes the hardware issues

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

If a switch is on 2.3.0 or lower is it necessery to update and can it run cfw without entering rcm
I think only 1.0.0 can install cfw without RCM. If you have a switch on 3.0.0 or lower, don't update

Thanks! Will MK8 update Switch tho? Shall I stay on <3.0 if I have the option?

Sorry if this question has been answered before but I recently just ordered another switch. I assume it will be on 5.1.0. So Ive heard of this "Xecuter Sx pro" kit, Just a couple questions on it:

1. Is this simply a kit that puts your foot in the door? Meaning You still need to find a CFW to load up and this won't do it for you?
2. Convenience is worth money to me but what exactly is their "custom OS" and what does it provide me?
3. If I decide to get this kit, Does it limit me in any way as far as what I can do with my hacked switch?
4. Ignoring the price, Is this the easiest way to hack your switch?

Thanks for any replies!

What is the current best way to load homebrew(launcher) on a switch with 3.0.0? Iv used the HBL when it was released and it worked via pegaswitch using the dns, but is that way still viable because of the super nag risk?

1. This is a dongle that will load team xecuters cfw.
2. It provides a way to play homebrew and piracy mainly. We're all buying it for the piracy tbh
3. No. All the dongle does is load a payload through RCM mode. You can revoot your switch, and it'll be back to normal. Tl;Dr it's not permanent, and it doesn't limit you at all, since you can still load other stuff
4. Yes, this is the easiest way. Since it comes with a jig and dongle, it doesn't require a phone or pc like atmosphere will

I would use the RCM payload I linked to in the op

I just scored a 1.0.0 switch for $300 on ebay thanks to the 20% off Fathers Day code: PICKDADSGIFT.

What benefits does this give me over my 4.0.1 switch? I haven't started hacking yet, I was waiting for Atmosphere to drop.

It will be able to launch cfw and homebrew more easily than 4.0.1. it might also have coldboot without rcm in the future.

There is an unreleased warmboot exploit for loading the CFW. There is no estimated time on when it may come out. Theoretically, an untethered coldboot is possible up to 3.0.2 but no one has achieved this nor working on it.

No because we lack the keys to properly sign the CFW to the Switch. There are unreleased software-based warmboot exploits that work all the way up to 4.1 however we don't know when they will be released to the public.

Cool, thanks. I just wait until it's fully CFW:ed and no messing around with special bootup-procedures B-)
