It depends on how you define a win. In ten years time all the switches, no matter what firmware could be as worthless as gamecubes and wii's.
It's really hard to predict how things go.
I guess it depends on how much you paid for the switch.
That could very well be, but I'm fortunate enough to have enough disposable income to play with. I ended up only paying $170. Came with a pro controller and Odyssey too!(both unopened)

The coldboot option is most appealing to me though, and there's no telling when, or if 4.1 will ever see that. So, why not.

After Atmosphere releases and TX gets delivered, I'll weigh my options. I may end up giving one as a gift, who knows.

according to reswitched discord they "broke something" that's crucial to Atmosphere Mike was in the process of fixing (if not already fixed) so hopefully it will not impact release

I got this with BCT.ini in root folder of my SD.

It seems to be related to my SD card, I might try another one later.

I built atmosphere last week to test it out & play with and had this same issue. I didn't do any further troubleshooting, but I'm pretty sure the microSD card that I was using was fat32 & not exfat.

If i recall correctly, that Thomleg50 was a user here that randomly tried to coldboot atmosphere while sciresm explicitly said that it wasn't ready yet.

Unless it comes from SciresM/ReSwitched, do not execute any "atmosphere" payloads. Always use trusted payloads from trusted sources.

is it safe to update to 5.1.0?

I don't see the point in updating right as of the moment, as you gain nothing really, however I don't think it will make much of a difference either way. Once Atmosphere is released its supposed to work on the latest firmware.

With the newest update being 5.1.0.
Could I still be able to update my Switch for my MicroSD Card?
Because I fear Homebrew may not work for the newest update.

I wish to be able to put atmosphere on it. Since it's not modded yet.

Firstly, congrats on bagging a 1.0 this late into the game.
Second, just enjoy having a console with the potential of an earlier coldboot down the line, as well as an already available software only method to reboot into RCM..
You don’t have to justify why that makes you happy.
I’d bet most people would switch their switch to yours if they could.

And have had a paperweight for over a year? No thanks...

If it’s your only switch, sure.
I imagine there are literally 0 people out there sitting on a 1.0 who don’t have a backup switch for actual usage.
Best always to buy 2 day one consoles and lock one away in a cupboard for as long as it takes.
Just turn it on once to make sure it works.
No worries either way then.
