OP
I'm looking for software to download videos from streaming websites online. In my recent experience with this software what works one week might not work the next. It costs time to download new Firefox extensions and test them out until I find one that works. Mainly I want to download from the websites YouTube and Bilibili (a Chinese website). Ideally the software would be free but I'm prepared to pay for something that works provided it will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future. The software doesn't have to convert the .flv file into something else, just download the video.

Jdownloader works well too. It's a desktop program, but you can copy and paste multiple URLs to batch download many files at once. It also works well for file-sharing sites like mediafire and even the shadier ones. You don't even have to actually visit the site. Most times it's able to download the captcha for you to fill out within the program.

I use Internet Download Manager [IDM] for lazy video stream downloads since you'll see the "download video" button hovering on top of the stream so just a simple click and it downloads.
JD comes in handy when IDM can't download certain streams aswell

Nah, some ISPs will get you for that, plus torrents are overrated lol.
what i like about using torrents is that you dont have to skim through dozens of ads and pop-ups on regular sites to download the files.
however you must be very careful, trojan horses, adware, miners, run wild in torrent sites.

And I can't trust torrents because of that reason.
